It is the tallest house in the small village of Montecorto, just 15 minutes from Ronda, with breathtaking panoramic views of the Sierra de Grazalema mountains. This exceptionally romantic home (featured in several interior design magazines) is decorated in an Andalusian/Moroccan style.

The whitewashed beams and terracotta floors are paired with elegant, warm colors. There are hundreds of books in every room, a collection of beautiful paintings and prints, as well as Wi-Fi (with a desktop iMac). The four large bedrooms all share the same bright, ethnic feel: the linens are top-quality, as are the mattresses, and each room has its own bathroom.

A charming housekeeper, Francisca, cleans and tidies up every day (if you wish). Carved into the hillside is a circular pool surrounded by terraces shaded by olive, almond, and citrus trees. El Tejar is an exceptional vacation home—not just an ordinary villa—and perfect for a relaxing and private getaway.

Daily housekeeping included: daily cleaning assistance from a charming and discreet Spanish housekeeper is included in the weekly rental price.
(Occasionally, guests prefer that Francisca not come to El Tejar to clean and tidy up. No problem....)

A little more about the town and the area: Montecorto is a quiet and welcoming town. There are several bars and restaurants, including one in the pine forest where you can dine al fresco. There’s always someone willing to chat with you! There’s a bakery, two small grocery stores—which provide baskets so you can pick items off the shelves, a handy feature for those who don’t speak Spanish—as well as a pharmacy. Much of the fruit and produce sold in the village comes from the fertile terraces below the village. If you prefer to shop at supermarkets, there are several options in Ronda, just 15 minutes from El Tejar.

We provide arriving guests with a brochure listing our favorite bars and restaurants, interesting places to visit in the area, maps of the village, Ronda, and the surrounding area, a history of the house, and general information about the house. We’ve found that this little brochure really helps you make the most of this beautiful area where we’ve lived for over two decades.
