Stay at our beautiful farmhouse, enjoy the authentic atmosphere

  • Spend your vacation at our beautiful, authentic farmhouse. Accommodates up to 8 guests.

    We highly recommend traveling by car. Public transportation is 2.5 km away, the historic city center of Monnickendam is 3.5 km away, and a shopping center (groceries) is 4.5 km away.

    Enjoy the beautiful, comfortable living room and kitchen with all the amenities, such as: a refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher, microwave/oven (NO large oven), Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, etc.

    The living room has underfloor heating. There is a fireplace and a flat-screen TV with various domestic and international channels. Spend the night in the traditional Dutch “bedstee,” suitable for 2 people (next to the living room; see pictures).

    Bathroom 1: walk-in rain shower, sink with mirror, bathtub, and toilet.
    Bathroom 2: walk-in rain shower, double sink with mirror, and toilet.
    There is also a separate toilet (first floor).

    Bedrooms: comfortable box-spring beds, nightstand, and lamp. There is also plenty of space for your clothes in the closet or on the wooden clothes rack.
    The bedrooms are air-conditioned (heating/cooling) and offer a great view.

    Exclusively for our guests, there is a garden with a terrace, a lawn, and a barbecue. In the summer, you can swim in the lake, which is only 100 meters from the house.

    Within walking distance, you’ll find “Theetuin Overleek” for a delicious lunch near the house, or you can rent a boat to explore the surrounding area. (During the summer, please check their website for opening days)

    Visit the historic center of Monnickendam, where you’ll find a charming harbor and plenty of places to enjoy drinks, lunch, or dinner.
    Public transportation is 2.5 km from our house. This way, you can explore the area and visit tourist attractions such as Amsterdam (approx. 15 km), Volendam (approx. 7 km), and Marken (approx. 8 km).

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
    * We highly recommend coming by car. Public transportation is 2.5 km away, the historic city center of Monnickendam is 3.5 km away, and the shopping center (groceries) is 4.5 km away.
    * The house is recommended for families and people who enjoy exploring the area.
    * We’re happy to answer any questions you may have; we live right next to the guest house (under the same roof).

Perfect!

We stayed three nights in Marieke and Leo’s farmhouse. Monnickendam is stunning. The people in town are super friendly. We bought fresh milk, cheese, and eggs from a neighbor down the road. We were a group of seven. The house accommodated us beautifully. I wish we could come back year after year. Just lovely!

Family & Friends Exploring the Netherlands

The farmhouse was a perfect home base for our trip! We had day trips to Amsterdam, the north and the south and had time to explore Monnickendam. Some nights we cooked at the Farmhouse and some nights we ate on our outings. Every night we came home to a wonderful setting. It isn’t a complete visit to the Netherlands without time in the country. Our hosts were really responsive and very helpful before and during our visit! They recommended we have a car and it was great guidance. We miss the farmhouse and hosts already.

Perfect Countryside Getaway

We recently spent a week at this charming property. Communications with the owners ahead of time was quick and responsive. We were met as we arrived and shown around the property. They were happy to answer any questions and had prepared for us a recommendation list of nearby restaurants and things to do locally. The home was charming, bright and clean. Every amenity was provided for. Comfy beds for up to eight people. A spacious public living/dining room. A full kitchen with all equipment necessary to prepare a meal, and even access to an outdoor grill. The house is very comfortable and it is easy to feel at home during your stay. The home is located about a half hour outside Amsterdam, close to the village of Monnickendam. Public transport is available from the village to Amsterdam and points elsewhere, which we took advantage of for a day trip to Amsterdam. Again, the owners were very helpful as to where to park in the village and how to access the bus system. There is ample parking at the home for any rental vehicle you may have. The home is situated in canaled farm land. it is peaceful, quiet and quite lovely. There is local milk and eggs that can be purchased from a nearby farm and you will see many ducks, swans, sheep and cows nearby. Book this property with confidence. It is perfect if one is looking for a quiet place to relax away from the hustle of Amsterdam, yet still convenient to places you want to visit. Say hello to Sasha and Timmy for us! Thank you!

Beautiful house in the country

We loved our time staying at the house in Monnickendam, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get outside of Amsterdam and see the lovely Countryside around Holland. the house is beautiful and very well cared for and we really enjoyed our stay.

Evrything was perfect ! We loved the charming Monnickendam village, and it was very easy to go to Amsterdam each day. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Marieke and her husband are very nice, they did the best to host us.

A little slice of heaven

This property is absolutely magical feeling, and I felt privileged to have experienced a stay here. The area is serene and idealic with beautiful farmland surrounding you. The town had wonderful places to eat, and an easy access (via public transportation) into Amsterdam. The owners are kind, respectful, and very helpful towards the guests. There's a useful list of activities, and places to visit provided by the owner. I deeply loved this home being our welcome to the Netherlands.

An unbeatable place to stay!

Probably one of the best places to stay for a trip to Amsterdam. This space is very big and exceptionally comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed including coffee for the morning! The whole place was newly renovated and extremely tidy and well put together. The idyllic location outside the city was quiet and peaceful but it was still extremely easy to get into Amsterdam by public transportation. The hosts were very accommodating and welcoming. We really loved the basket of firewood they gave us each night which made for a cozy atmosphere. As we we’re staying over there around Christmas, they even set up a Christmas tree for us as a special touch! I can’t imagine staying at any better place. Thanks so much to Leo and Marieke for such a wonderful experience! We highly recommend a stay here for any trip to Amsterdam.

Wonderful House with everything you need and more

The first thing that came to our minds when we saw the house from the inside was that it was way bigger and more beautiful than the already nice pictures made us believe. We really felt at home from the first moment on. The rooms are really big and leave enough room for enjoyable evenings. Everything was very clean and we missed nothing. Marieke and Leo gave us a very warm welcome and helped us if we needed anything. We also enjoyed our small trips around the neighbourhood with the beautiful café around the corner and the many cute animals. Monnickendam is also a lovely little town - and there are even more nice places near the house where you can spend a lovely day. My friends and me stayed at Marieke's and Leo's place for three nights and are really looking forward to coming back to this place.

completely satisfied

We booked the apartment for our vacation (6 adults). We are completely satisfied. Before starting our trip, we had a few questions. We wrote this to Marieke and Leo and received an immediate reply. So we already had a good feeling about the apartment. The apartment is even nicer than in the pictures. Three Bedrooms with Air condition und 3 bathrooms (all three with toilets and 2 of them with showers). We doesnt needed the last bed. A wonderful kitchen and a large living room. Everything is new, neat and clean. We felt very comfortable. We could always reach Marieke and Leo with questions and they gave us many tips what to discover in the area. We: - grilled in the garden - did a great board tour - went swimming in different places (one is just 50m away from the apartment) - visit different places - visit Amsterdam - did bike rides All in all we were happy with everything. Thank you Marieke und Leo that you make it so easy for us to have a wonderful holiday. If it were possible we would give you more than 5 stars. :)

Unser Aufenthalt war super. Das Haus bietet alles was man braucht und erwartet.Die Lage ist ruhig, und Monnikendam in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen.Marieke und ihr Mann waren tolle Gastgeber, sodass man sich direkt willkommen fühlt. Heerlijk ruim, mooi huis

Heel landelijk, maar toch dichtbij allerlei leuke plaatsen, ligt dit smaakvolle ruime huis. Ook de gastheer en gastvrouw doen hun best om het verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Het is overigens wel heel handig om een auto tot je beschikking te hebben.

Entspannung PUR

Wunderschönes Haus, dass liebevoll eingerichtet ist. Alles sauber und Tip Top ! Es liegt sehr idyllisch mitten in der Natur, sodass man sofort entspannen kann. Fussläufig gibt es einen Bootsverleih, der sehr zu empfehlen ist. Wir haben einen 3,5 stündigen Bootstrip durch die Kanäle gemacht. In der Umgebung gibt es niedliche kleine Orte. Mit dem Bus ist man in schnell in Amsterdam und kann so auch die Grossstadt genießen. Wir waren alle sehr glücklich dort !

Schönes Ferienhaus

Check in und out völlig unkompliziert, da Eigentümer direkt Tür an Tür wohnen, so dass auch die Ankunftszeit flexibel gestaltet werden konnte. Eigentümer Marieke und Leo sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit, das Haus sehr sauber und es war alles da, was man braucht. Etwas mehr Gemütlichkeit könnte im Haus geschaffen werden, z.B. mit echten statt Plastikblumen, aber diese dienen wohl der einfacheren Pflege und Hygiene. Die Lage ist jedoch weit außerhalb, so dass man auf sein Auto angewiesen ist. Die ca 4,5 km bis nach Monnickendam waren mit Kleinkindern zu Fuß nicht zu bewältigen, zumal wir auch großes Pech mit dem Wetter hatten (Regen und Sturm). Amsterdam sehr unkompliziert und schnell von Monnickendam mit dem Bus zu erreichen. Alles in allem tolle drei Tage mit der Familie in einem schönen Ferienhaus...

Erholsamer Aufenthalt in unmittelbarer Nähe von Amsterdam

Das Haus liegt wunderschön in den holländischen Poldern. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und zugewandt. Das Haus ist geräumig, geschmackvoll und stilsicher eingerichtet. Monnickendam, der nächst gelegene Ort, besticht durch ein schönes Stadtbild. Amsterdam ist per Expressbus von Monnickendam aus schnell zu erreichen. Fazit: Topp!!

Delightful and comfortable accommodation - Great hosts

We had a fantastic week in this wonderful location. The house is just as beautiful and pleasant as it is shown in the pictures, located in a peaceful, calm environment. There is enough space for families or groups to enjoy time in the house or in the garden. Our children loved spending time both in- and outside. Everything was clean, of high quality and in great shape. The house is just perfect for bike-, boat- or hiking tours in a relaxing, pretty landscape full of water, green, farmyards (with happy livestock) and picturesque villages. Restaurants of every category are as good reachable as beaches or Amsterdam, which is 15-20 min by bus or car. We especially enjoyed the kindness of our hosts. Marieke and Leo gave as a warm welcome, helpful instructions and were very careful and sympathetic concerning COVID-challenges. We had good feeling during the whole time and a great stay in general.

Pretty, authentic farmhouse in one of the most beautiful country side

We stayed with 4 adults and 2 kids in end Feb. and totally enjoyed the house. The location offers opportunities for great trips to the beautiful small cities in the surrounding: best to explore by bike. If you book the house don’t miss to ask for the closet bed.. our kids totally loved sleeping there.. Very nice host family.
