Wow. What an experience staying in the Staliki Mansion with the balcony that we practically lived on. You need to come with an adventurous spirit and running shoes as you must do a lot of walking on cobblestones and staircases to go everywhere. This is an epic experience!

Unique and memorable stay.

Stayed here with a group and booked 2 rooms for 4 nights. The location is beautiful and unique, rooms were large and clean and had amazing views out to the sea. Host checking us in was great and breakfast was amazing. Because of it's uniqueness and location a couple things to be aware of are parking can be hard to find so might have to park near the mainland and walk for about 15 minutes to the castle and could be difficult carrying luggage to the rooms with the stone alleys and steps. Overall a great stay in the Castle with many things to do in the surrounding area. Would stay again.

Wonderful stay

We loved everything about it. We had a room with a balcony overlooking Monemvasia and the ocean. Stunning. Parking is along the road that connects Monemvasia to the mainland. This is where EVERYONE parks. The reception is right inside the castle walls but it could be a bit of a walk from there on cobblestones depending where your room is. Breakfast is fantastic and everyone is so nice and helpful.

The hotel seems very nice. It’s pretty unique. The breakfast is excellent. The common areas are beautiful. The reason we didn’t have a great experience was because the room we got was tiny - barely enough space to move around with 2 pieces of luggage. Tiny bathroom. It looks like a staff room actually rather then tourist accommodations. I’m not sure whether we somehow overlooked the size of the room when we made a reservation. Usually, we pay attention to that. Unfortunately, there is no way to confirm whether the room we were given was the one we booked.

Historic Charm

Amazing location, unique rooms with historic charm. We stayed in an apartment style room located in the lower areas of Monemvasia, below the Stellaki Mansion. The best way to describe the room is - fancy wine cellar. We had access to an upper level courtyard which was very pretty with potted plants and seating, however no sea views from our room or courtyard. Though we grew to love the room I was originally disappointed to not have a sea view. This was probably an error made on my end. Based on photos of the rooms when booking I wrongly assumed that all the rooms had sea views/terraces. So if having a sea view is important to you make sure to read the room descriptions closely when booking. Even though we didn’t have the view in our room it really wasn’t a big deal and we were out exploring most of the time anyways! The staff was very friendly and the included breakfast was excellent and served in a beautiful building with outdoor terraces with garden and sea views. Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend staying in any of the rooms available! Note: all of Monemvasia is walking only with very uneven stone streets and lots of stairs, consider that when packing bags. I would recommend backpack style carry-on size/overnight bags vs rolling suitcases; and definitely no heavy large bags.

Monemvasia is such a unique setting that it is hard to compare with any others. Beware because it is a lot of walking over cobblestone streets and steps with considerable elevations, depending on your unit. (Don't bring a wheeled suitcase. You'll quickly regret it. Pack a duffle for your stay) But for a property that dates back hundreds of years yet still offers modern conveniences this cannot be beat. And that's without talking about the sheer beauty of the setting itself. We loved it and would go back tomorrow if we could. It was part of an 11 day swing through the Pellopenese. If that's part of your plan, don't miss it and the Malvasia is the perfect option.

Plusieurs hotels portent le meme nom. Nous avons cherché en tournant dans toutes les ruelles de la vieille ville. En fait il faut passer au bureau à l'entrée de la vieille ville et une hotesse vous accompagne a la chambre. Très décue de la chambre sans lumiere loin de ce que l'on voit sur les photos. Très bruyant si vous avez des locataires au dessus car tres vieux. Bref je ne recommande pas cet hotel.

Loved it here!

My stay at Malvasia was wonderful. Since I stayed during the low season they upgraded my room to a sea view which was very nice. The breakfast spread is incredible. Definitely one of the best breakfasts while I had in Greece. The room itself was super nice and warm and the bed was very comfortable. My only complaint is that you stay inside a walled, castle city which is incredible, but that means you have to park your car outside of it and it can be quite a trek to bring your luggage in and they do not have a service for that. You would have to pay someone to do that for you. Otherwise it was great and Monemvasia in general was such a cool place to visit.

We loved Malvasia! We got a room with a balcony - great views!! Super cute room, spacious enough, very clean. Very attentive staff and easy check in. They can arrange help carrying your luggage to your room if desired. Free breakfast included was very delicious with lots of options. Highly recommend - We will be returning!

Unique medieval village with modern comforts

Wonderful weekend in Monemvasia. Reception for the Malvasia Hotel (housed in several different buildings) is on the main pathway after entering the walled village. I was shown to a very nice apartment close to the water, where swimming off the rocks proved a refreshing ending to a day of walking around the stony lanes and up to the fortress and Agia Sofia church. A large breakfast is served in a building and terrace overlooking the sea. Although multiple locations sounds inconvenient, the walled town is very small and can be traversed in a few minutes on foot. Having said that, those with mobility problems will have difficulty with the uneven cobbles and steps. But it's a fascinating place to walk around. Plenty of nice places to enjoy the views and medieval atmosphere over a glass of local wine.

Nice cosy hotel. Our room had a balcony with sea view but unfortunately was on the ground floor next to the main street, so no privacy. The whole feel of Monemvasia including the hotel rooms is take you to the medieval ages in a good way, which is great experience! Good breakfast. Ok service without a smile. There is a cafe next door with great views!

Schöne Zimmer in renoviertn, antiken Häusern!

Das Malvasia Traditional Hotel bietet Zimmer/Appartments, die in der Altstadt verteilt sind. Unser Zimmer war ganz in der Nähe des Stadttors und lag in einem renovierten, antiken Haus über mehrere Ebenen verteilt. Ich habe in dieser ruhigen Umgebung wirklich erholsam geschlafen und war in der Früh fit für den Sonnenaufgang auf dem Burgberg. Das Frühstück erhält man am anderen Ende der Altstadt und hat uns was Qualität und Vielfalt der Produkte angeht noch einmal positiv überrascht. Einfach top! Tipp: Die Rezeption für alle Zimmer befindet sich in der Hauptgasse, gleich wenige Meter nach dem Stadttor auf der rechten Seite, nicht wie wir das Gepäck bis zum Frühstücksbereich schleppen und dann wieder umdrehen müssen!

Clean, comfy, beautiful room and fab breakfast

All health and safety regulations were being followed, with staff masked, rooms disinfected, hand sanitizer available everywhere, and a lot of procedures at breakfast to keep everything sanitary. But we never felt anxious—it made us feel reassured. Our room was number 15, which was large, lovely, clean and comfortable. It is a long-ish walk to the entrance from this particular room (the hotel owns several buildings within the fortress) but directly opposite the breakfast room. If you have any disabilities do let them know at booking, since at this centuries-old fortress it’s not always easily accessible. The one hitch was my husband is rather tall, and the room uses much of the original stone architecture including the door lintels. Upshot is he banged his head quite a few times! The breakfast was spectacular, with freshly pressed orange juice, eggs and bacon, a large dish of freshly baked pastries and a basket of bread, plus different treats for variety every day. We loved our stay and wished we could be there longer.

Μείναμε στο ξενοδοχείο Malvazia για τρεις διανυκτερεύσεις τον Ιανουάριο και ήταν μια υπέροχη διαμονή. Το ξενοδοχείο προσφέρει την απόλυτη εμπειρία της διαμονής μέσα στο κάστρο της Μονεμβασιάς σε αρχοντικά που έχουν ανακαινιστεί και προσφέρουν όλες τις ανέσεις, παρόλο που το κάστρο της Μονεμβασιάς είναι προστατευόμενο ως αρχαιολογικός χώρος. Μείναμε στο αρχοντικό Στελλάκη, κοντά στην είσοδο στο κάστρο, στο δωμάτιο Τζάκια, με δύο κρεβατοκάμαρες, η καθεμία με το μπάνιο της και ένα εσωτερικό μπαλκονάκι. Το μόνο που ίσως θα έπρεπε κανείς να γνωρίζει είναι ότι έχει σκαλιά μέχρι το δωμάτιο και ίσως δεν ενδείκνυται για άτομα με περιορισμένη κινητικότητα (ηλικιωμένους, κ.λπ.). Το πρωϊνό σερβίρεται κοντά στο Καφέ Μαλβάζια, περίπου 5 λεπτά με τα πόδια από το αρχοντικό Στελλάκη και προσφέρει απίστευτη ποικιλία, και μάλιστα διαφορετικές επιλογές από σπιτικές και ντόπιες γεύσεις κάθε πρωί (σε πίτες, ομελέτες, ντόπια γλυκά της εποχής όπως μελομακάρονα) και φυσικά διάφορες μαρμελάδες, διάφορα είδη φρεσκοψημένου ψωμιού, γιαούρτι, γάλα, χυμούς. Οι υπάλληλοι ήταν όλοι τους ευγενέστατοι και μας περιποιήθηκαν πολύ, παρά το γεγονός ότι το ξενοδοχείο ήταν πλήρες εκείνες τις μέρες. Μας έφερναν ξύλα για το τζάκι κάθε φορά που ζητήσαμε (είχαμε ενημερωθεί εξαρχής ότι θα υπήρχε μια επιπλέον χρέωση 5€/κοφίνι) και μας έδωσαν όσες πληροφορίες χρειαζόμασταν. Σίγουρα θα επιλέγαμε να ξαναμείνουμε στο ξενοδοχείο αυτό και ευχαριστούμε πολύ για την περιποίηση.
