About this property

The Blueprint, stay with style in Porta Romana

  • Summary:

A former architecture studio turned open-plan apartment, in the heart of Porta Romana:

✦ Thoughtful design, colors that surprise, in an apartment that carries the personality of those who lived and worked here before

✦ Fluid open-plan layout, made for up to 3 guests. The double bedroom flows seamlessly into the living area with sofa bed and dining space

✦ Porta Romana: Milan's most vibrant neighborhood. Great restaurants, bars, theatres, Fondazione Prada nearby. Perfect for the "Fuorisalone"

    The Space:

Located on the raised ground floor of a classic Milanese period building, this apartment has a story of its own: for years it was home to an architecture studio, and it still carries that spirit — spaces designed with intention, and a parquet floor that tells the passage of time in the best possible way.

The heart of the home is the living area, where the dining space and lounge coexist in a single open, harmonious room. Each area has been painted in a different, carefully chosen colour, creating a warm, vibrant and surprisingly refined atmosphere — nothing anonymous about it. The bookshelf, overflowing with volumes, adds an extra layer of charm and invites you to slow down. The sofa bed in the living area is comfortable and practical, ideal for a third guest without sacrificing comfort.

From the living area, you move without doors or barriers into the double bedroom — a natural flow that amplifies the sense of space typical of open-plan living. The bedroom offers ample wardrobe space and everything you need to settle in at ease.

The kitchenette is well-equipped for those who want to cook: everything you need to prepare a proper meal, just like home. Nearby, the bathroom facilities are split across two separate spaces — a thoughtful solution for couples or small groups: one room has the toilet and sink, the other the shower and washing machine, so everyone can manage their own routine without waiting.

    The Neighborhood:

The apartment sits on Viale Umbria, one of the elegant avenues that define Porta Romana — one of Milan's six historic city gates, and today one of its most lively and sought-after neighbourhoods. Elegant but lived-in, steeped in history but never standing still, it strikes the perfect balance between authenticity and energy. This is where Milan's students, young professionals and creatives all end up, drawn by a neighborhood that genuinely has it all.

The food scene alone is worth the stay. For culture, the neighborhood punches well above its weight.

The neighbourhood is also exceptionally well connected: the M3 metro (yellow line) stops at Porta Romana, and trams and buses run frequently across the city. Yet despite its central position, the streets of Viale Umbria feel calm and residential — a rare combination in Milan.

Finally, during Milan Design Week and the Fuorisalone, Porta Romana transforms into the epicentre of the global design world. Showrooms, installations, pop-ups and events take over the streets within walking distance. Staying here during those days isn't just convenient — it puts you right where everything happens.

    Getting Around:

From Milano Centrale train station: the easiest option is the M3 metro (yellow line): take it to Porta Romana or Lodi TIBB — both stops are a short walk from Viale Umbria. Alternatively, tram 16 runs directly along the avenue. Total journey time is around 15–20 minutes.

From Milano Malpensa Airport: take the Malpensa Express train (direct, every 30 minutes approximately, from 5:00 to 23:30) to Milano Centrale — journey time is about 45 minutes. From there, hop on the M3 yellow metro as above.

From Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport: direct bus shuttles (Airport Bus Express and others) connect the terminal to Piazza Luigi di Savoia, next to Milano Centrale, in about 55 minutes. From there, M3 yellow metro to Porta Romana.
