Below are some of our Frequently asked questions:
Where is the closest boat launch in the area? There are two boat launches on the lake. Please refer to the property photos for a helpful map showing their locations.
Is the fire pit shared with the other rental? No, your fire pit is private and exclusively for your use. Don’t forget to bring your own firewood!
How many paddle boards, kayaks, and paddles are available? Are life vests provided? We provide 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards (each with their own paddles), and 2 paddleboats. Life vests are available in the storage bench. Please note that these are shared with the second rental on the property.
Is the grill propane? Yes, it is a propane grill. Each guest is responsible for properly using and cleaning the grill after use.
What are the check-out instructions? We’ll send you detailed check-out instructions the day before your departure. If you'd like to review them earlier, feel free to message us.
Can I use the waterfront area? Absolutely! The waterfront area is shared between Lakeside Cottage and Casa Lakeview. We kindly ask that you be respectful of our other guests and share the watercraft. There are plenty of water toys available for everyone to enjoy!
Do you have a boat lift I can use? We do not have a shared boat lift. Our only lift is currently used for our pontoon boat (which you're welcome to book separately—just message us for details). However, you’re welcome to tie off to the dock. Please message us in advance to confirm dock space availability for your boat.
How do I access the dock? You can access the dock by following the path on the left side of the Lakeside Cottage property (4246 Trails End Rd). This path leads directly to the dock, where you’ll find our rentable pontoon, kayak rack, and paddleboats.
Can I use the unopened snacks, soda, or condiments in the fridge or pantry? Yes! This is our summer home, and we love sharing what we’ve stocked with our guests. We run this on the honor system—if you use something, please replace it with a similar item. Before checking out, please discard any perishable items. You’re welcome to leave unopened, non-perishable goods for the next guest.
Is there a grocery store nearby? Yes! We recommend Tom’s on Gun Lake—it’s the closest option and well-stocked with everything you need, including beer, wine, ice, fresh produce, and a meat market. As a second option, Town & Country Supermarket is located on the other side of the lake.
Where can I fill up the pontoon or boat gas tank? We recommend the Citgo gas station located right on the lake: 11937 Marsh Rd, Shelbyville, MI There’s also a great pizza place next door if you’re feeling hungry!

We stayed at the lake house with two other couples and we had a great time. The house had plenty of room for all of us and was perfect. The host was very quick to answer when we had questions. We would definitely stay there again!
We rented out as a big family both cottages. They fit our large family, everyone had a bed. The owner was so helpful, communicated very well. Each house had so much to offer. We recommend renting out both houses for large groups and we will definitely rent this both out again.
The house was in a great location, easily accessable to the water. It is not directly on the water, across the street, but does have great views over the top of the other house as the street is on a hill. The house had all the ammenities we needed as an extended family of 10 and ample space for all of us. Edgar was on top of his communication and very accommedating and efficient. We loved having all the water toys and renting the available boat to enjoy the water. We would stay again!
I rented the house across the street and my brother rented the property at the lake. We rented the pontoon boat and everyone from kids to adults had a great time. Edgar is awesome to work with and very responsive. Just know that there are not seemingly any or perhaps few rentals in that neighborhood, so treat the place like it’s your neighborhood. Not a place to be hosting a rager or a place where the neighbors would have much tolerance for nonsense.
This by far was the best vacation I’ve ever had! The owners opened up a paddle boat and pontoon slip so I could entertain family and have a seem less excess to Gunlake. Amazing place and very updated. Will be back this fall for sure! Thanks for booking us on such short notice.

So so getaway
A lot of stairs. At least 8 air fresheners try to cover up musty smell. Neighbors did not like renters. Felt low end. Lake access in front had dead fish and a foam /scum on water all weekend from prevailing wind
