I had booked a room for a staff member arriving at the hotel at 4am after an international flight. I received an email earlier in the evening cancelling the room and I had no message or telephone call to explain why or if there was a problem to rectify it. After several calls I located a staff member to help and it turned out there was a problem with the credit card so the hotel just cancelled the booking. I gave the staff member another card and the booking was reinstalled but it was poor service and professionalism. The hotel knew his arrival time as I had organised a car through them to collect him at the airport.

The luxury details from lobby to restaurant/bar and my room were 10/10. The city views from both floor to ceiling glass windows in my suite were incredible. I had a great evening in the ballroom and would visit again. Probably should valet because fitting a large truck in the parking garage was stressful.

I’ve stayed here many times over the years, and it will always be my go to whenever I’m in Bahrain. The hotel is centrally located, making it very convenient whether you’re here for business or leisure. There’s a great selection of restaurants on-site, my favorite is the Japanese, followed closely by the Mexican. The highlight of my stay was spending the whole day at the pool, where Sunday and David took excellent care of me. They truly went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Yes, this is an older hotel, and you notice it as soon as you walk in. But that’s never been an issue for me. I actually appreciate well maintained classic hotels, as long as they’re clean and have everything I need. Thank you, Gulf Hotel!

Staff and the main areas of the hotel are really nice. Our room however not so. We booked a non smoking room and the first thing you smelt was stale tobacco. The air con was so cold that the bed was damp and smelt like it had been damp for quite a while. It was so cold we turned off the air con but never got any sleep. Colder than camping in Wales in the spring. The decor is very dated and there was a very strange odour in the bathroom. The swimming pool was in need of a lot of repairs too. Lots of tiles missing and the edges were very rickety and felt unsafe. Stayed in quite a few hotels and this was one of the worst. Very disappointed as it wasn't cheap either.
