We got off to a slightly rocky start, finding out only a couple of hours prior to checking in that the house was double booked. Not what we wanted to hear after 2 days of flying to get to Madeira! While this was disappointing, the owner did apologize profusely and respond quickly, accepting that this was a mistake at her end and booking us into a really nice local hotel for the first night.
The next day, the move-in went smoothly. We were so glad to unpack our bags and relax. The house is beautiful, with a great view over the Atlantic. The pool is the ICING on the cake- long enough to swim lengths, private and heated if you need it (for a small upcharge. )
The house is very well kept up and very clean. It is also equipped with almost anything you could need, and feels like a home away from home. We would definitely stay here again.
Only a couple of small points: there is no air conditioning- which was not a big problem for us, as it was October and nights were a little cooler, but in hotter weather, some might find it a little warm in the house. There are fans in most rooms. There are roller shutters, but no screen doors, so leaving all the doors open to let in a breeze can lead to a few geckos and mosquitos getting into the house… but not a big deal as we were outside on the deck by the pool most of the time.
