We stayed in the “Casa das Vinhas” From January 25 to March 8, 2023 – Yes, 6 weeks! Lucky us!
We thoroughly enjoyed the property. We are walkers; we walked over 600 km while we were in Madeira, so the location was ideal for us as it gave us a chance to warm up walking to the old town in the morning and a chance to finish off our days with a walk back up to the casa.
The building itself suited our needs very well. It felt safe, secure, and peaceful and allowed us to relax and enjoy the tranquillity among the banana plants, amid the birds and butterflies and with visits from the 2 friendly dogs.
The property managers were quick to respond to any minor issues as they came up and were a pleasure to meet.
The housekeeper did an excellent and thorough job and the towels and bed linens are top quality.
We cooked about 60% of our meals at the casa and had pretty much everything we needed, including the barbeque, which we did make use of. We never really figured out how to do more than just microwave with the oven but didn’t really need it anyway.
Few rental units in Funchal have any form of central heat and we experienced some cold nights in January and early February. We made good use of the electric heater and hot-water bottle some nights! Other than those few nights, we were fine without a source of heat.
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay!
