Inside the northernmost church in the world! The Svalbard church sits on a hill overlooking Longyearbyen. It's got a lovely fireside community room with wooden tables and Scandinavian-patterned cushions and then a church hall with an altar and small touches throughout that remind you exactly where you are on top of the world. It's a very nice, peaceful place to take pause.

A quirky little town best known for being the most northern town in the world, a gateway for many Arctic expeditions (hiking, cruising, wildlife). You can't go beyond the immediate town environs without an armed guard because of polar bears.

So many options on what to do and see; most tour operators will pick you up and drop off at hotel, making getting to any activities manageable despite any weather conditions. People are friendly and the geography is just breath-taking.
