We had a very friendly welcome and enjoyed our stay very much. Great location if you’re on your travels. Prices of food and drink excellent value and you only have to ask if you require anything, very obliging. The hotel is undergoing some renovation, but this is advertised on their website and through out the hotel. The bar area was cosy and we made friends easily with fellow travellers and locals. We were given a very spacious room on the top floor. Shame our stay was just for one night en route home.
Had an fantastic 2 night stay here...rooms were spacious and well maintained, breakfast was amazing and the bar food was great and reasonable. We ate there both nights....we took our dog too and she had a fab time too
Staff were very welcoming and helpful..nothing was too much trouble..will be staying there again
Highly reccomend
Excellent modern bathroom but it, like the rest of hotel, could do with good clean and re-decoration.
Pleasant reception by owners (?) but staff not so. Food so so but crockery, cutlery and particularly glasses suffer from the same problem one sees at too many hotels. Not checked after dishwasher cleaning and we rejected two glasses and finally took drink direct from bottle.
We stayed heading North and on way home.
Good location if you can live with the shortcomings but don't expect 5 star set up.
Noisy generator/ cold room motor noise outside back bedrooms. Front rooms OK. Large bedrooms, adequate otherwise but maybe bedding could do with checking/renewal.
Disappointing but not disastrous.
Room spacious and had been refurbished. Staff pleasant and breakfast ok. Much of hotel shabby and run down and stairs area smelled of damp. Lighting in corrdor and bedroom poor.
After a very long journey our party of six we were greeted by a warm and very friendly host Steve. We were made to feel so welcome and accommodating. Great evening in the bar, great sleep and a fantastic breakfast. All staff were fabulous and nothing was to much trouble.
The place was very quiet and comfortable the shower was one of the best I’ve had and the breakfast was ideal Didn’t like the meal at night which was supposed to be a steak pie and mash The pie was terrible like a pie from the shop and the mash was dry other than that enjoyed the stay
There was nothing we didn’t like about this accommodation. Staff and owner were all so lovely. Had a drink in bar along with our tea. Macaroni and cheese (my favourite)? Food was delicious. Very comfortable room. Bed was big, clean and comfy. Excellent breakfast in separate dining room. Had a walk around village to see some of the local history. Would definitely come again, given the chance.
It was a very cold wet night and the car park was at the rear of property, and unlit so we needed to use our mobile phones to light the way. Very tatty unwelcoming back entrance. Food was still being served so we ordered at the warm friendly bar. Should have had suspicions when we were asked if we wanted rice with our mushroom risotto! Got ping ping grey tasteless risotto, served in a microwave bowl and a pile of white rice at the side. Absolutely awful food for £8.50.
Then went to room it was freezing, with no heating and 3 degrees outside and radiator just tepid with no adjustment, the ensuite was worse with no working heating at all...As bad as it could be.... only gave 2 stars because the breakfast was good and the waitress was kind enough to put a portable electric radiator by our table....internet wifi did not work and when we left I realised I had left my bank card in the room so rang them and left a message asking them to hold the card if they found it and they didn’t bother to reply to my message.....I thought hotels like this had been routed out as it was a real throwback!
This was a dog friendly hotel where we stayed one night on our way north. The man in reception was very welcoming and the room very nice. The room had recently been refurbished and was clean and comfortable. We had an evening meal in the bar (dog friendly) which was very good and Laura served drinks and meals with friendly good humour. Breakfast was included and we had the veggie option full breakfast which was good and filling. Mary was our host and made us very welcome.
Really friendly staff, quiet location, safe free parking. Excellent food both in the bar and breakfast. Basic, simple room which was clean and perfectly fine for a short stay
Inside the hotel is fantastic. Nice friendly bar, room was excellent, really clean and comfortable, amazing bathroom! Breakfast was really good, hot and fresh. Very friendly staff, no problem in recommending!
what a gem we have found, renovations in progress but no disruptions for your stay.
you will all be fighting for room 15 and 16. 2 flights of stairs but well worth the climb.
breakfasts very good with plenty of choices.
family run with a friendly ambience.
definitely would come back and highly recomend
Very clean accommodation and hosts were attentive and helpful at all times. Very clean, newly refurbished rooms.
Evening meals available (Friday), but i didn't partake so won't comment, but the well stocked bar and pleasant inclusive conversation made the evening enjoyable.
If I traveled this way again I would visit again.
