The Royal Oak
We had an absolutely lovely weekend staying at The Royal Oak. The location was perfect for a relaxing weekend away. The scenery was breathtaking and we had a lovely view from our room. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. This is a traditional pub, very cosy and again nicely decorated but retaining its traditional charm. The landlord and landlady were extremely helpful. Above all, this is dog friendly accommodation, a must for us. We would definitely stay here again.

Traumatic experience
We arrived at 14:30 hoping for some lunch before check in at 15:00, but the place was closed, we came back at 15:30 to find the place still closed, we rang the bell and called the mobile number on the door but no-one answered. we knew the owner was in as his car with private number plate was parked outside. There was an window open upstairs, so I called up excuse me? A man appeared out of the window and yelled WHAT ! I replied that we were staying and would like to check in, he replied ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I'LL BE DOWN IN A MINUTE!!. He appeared from the back of the building and called us over, my partner asked if he was OK, and he replied YEAH! He showed us up the fire exit and into a room, we asked if the bar was open and he said it would be. He went next door and all we could hear through the wall was him calling me an F**KING this that and the other. At that point we decided to leave. I have contacted my credit card company regarding a refund as no-way could we have stayed the place was not fit for purpose .. The website states it is open fro 12 serving food etc, but this is not the case

Trek Fest 2021
I had a lovely restful and peaceful stay in this cosy and warm hotel, which is just what i needed before and after a trek through the Brecon Beacons. The food in the restaurant is amazing and a there was good selection of dishes to choose from. I only had cereal and fresh coffee for breakfast but the cooked breakfast looked good, too. From arrival to departure i was made to feel very welcome, i would definitely stay here again as there is so much to explore in the area.
