This hotel was absolutely beautiful, the staff was so helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back on our next stay in Litchfield.
The front desk staff was very warm & welcoming. Parking was good. The property has a lot of fun history & architecture -- make sure to read about it in the little room off the lobby. And the town/area is so quaint. My husband had to work, so I sat at the bar by myself for dinner & had a wonderful time. The bartender is amazing. Really good at her craft! Food was great. It might be a challenging hotel & restaurant to navigate if one has mobility issues. There is an elevator, but there are are lot of turns & narrow spaces.
The Abner Hotel in Litchfield exceeded all expectations with its impeccable, attentive staff who made every moment feel personal and effortless. I had no idea it was set in a beautifully restored former courthouse—what a charming surprise! The food and cocktails were phenomenal, easily rivaling top restaurants in the city.
Well appointed rooms -new hotel. Very clean. Comfortable bed and great shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location near shops and restaurants. Rooftop bar and restaurant on premises which stay open late. Would highly recommend.
This is a beautiful and unique hotel which has been built into an old courthouse in Litchfield. Rooms have great use of space and decor. Staff went out of their way both at the front desk, restaurant, and bar. Would definitely stay here again.
Litchfield and the surrounding area is very picturesque and the hotel has converted the local courthouse. The hotel itself is lovely, the staff is superb and location is ideal. Our only issue was we were paying New York hotel prices to view the car park of the local district Post Office. There is a reason that ear plugs are left in the room rather than a coffee maker or TV.
I was impressed by the historic charm of the hotel. There is even a dedicated room detailing the history of the area, educational significance and courthouse beginnings. The court room restaurant and rooftop bar are definitely worth a visit. The rooms were spacious and clean. We will definitely be back.
Staff is excellent as is the decor and service both at the hotel, restaurant and rooftop. Not well known but the air conditioning in the room can be very loud and there are no TV’s in the room. The street is very walkable and there are several excellent restaurants within a quick walk or 10 min drive. The breakfast at the hotel was lovely- as was the restaurant. Great long weekend stay!
Loved our stay at the historic Court House, beautifully restored as the Abner Inn. Service was excellent, dinner was equally fantastic, service was super. Staying in the beautiful village of Litchfield is always a special treat for my wife and I as we love stopping in the Village Pub for a drink and to taking a drive to Lake Waramaug and the beautiful New Preston village. We will be back to the Abner in a few weeks!
First class boutique hotel . Located in the center of downtown Litchfield ! Very friendly and accommodating staff . Heathy breakfast included . Rooms are impeccably clean
The staff was friendly. The property and room were beautiful and clean. Thought was definitely put into the design and finishings. The water was hot and the room temperature easy to control. It was 6 degrees outside when we stayed and our room was nice snd toasty. Wonderful visit overall.
The Abner Hotel is excellent in all aspects. The management, the quality of the hotel itself, the quality of the offerings are all what one would expect from a high class boutique hotel. The only question to ask is: "Would I ever return?" The Litchfield area is another example of very small "town" USA. Travelers who seek quality stays such as the Abner often have the means to travel the world. Unless you need to be in Litchfield for personal or "limited" business reasons, why would one return? There is nothing the Abner needs to do to improve, other than helping Litchfield improve:
• Everything shuts down around 5
• There is hardly anyone on the streets after 6. Proof? We encountered "15" oncoming vehicles in a 20 mile stretch at 10:30 pm.
• There is nothing to do in the evening other than very non-exciting, very conventional dining options. And who travels to Litchfield for extraordinary dining? Hello? France? Italy?
• Yes, local greet "Hello" and Merry Xmas" to strangers on the street. It takes more than a hollow greeting to make a place inviting.
Litchfield needs to ask itself the question: "Do we really want outsiders visit our town?" My guess is, their answer, currently, is "We like the way we live, we don't want you." - All right, thanks. My apologies to an excellent establishment such as The Abner Hotel and its hard-working management and staff.
This is a gem of a place. I have stayed at the abner many times and am delighted to say it is always a treat. The hotel is warm charming sparkling clean and perfectly located with shopping and dining just outside your doors. The rooms are comfortably appointed with all the extras of a posh stay . The breakfast is a must and don’t skip the frittata. Dinner is a cozy culinary experience with an ample menu to cover many tastes but dine exquisitely. If open do not miss out on the rooftop lounge and bar perfectly cultivated for cocktails and conversation.
The hotel is very lovely, and historical, and perfectly located in the village. The food was excellent. The rooms were tight and there were no TV's, but the biggest issue was the air circulation fans, which were quite loud, and could not be turned off.
