Amazing location, lovely apartment

The location of this apartment is superb! You are a few minutes walk from from Avenida de Liberdade and the metro station there, and also from Martim Moniz square and station, making all the key places in Lisbon easily accessible. The neighbourhood itself is surprisingly quiet at night despite being so central, so you're not in a party area like Barrio Alto. The apartment is nothing much from the outside but is spacious and welcoming. It would especially suit people wanting a longer stay as you have a good sized, well-equipped kitchen and a large living room/dining room which is unusual in rental apartments like this. There is A/C in the bedrooms and sitting room, and shutters on the windows for shade/privacy/noise reduction. The owner and local manager are very friendly and helpful. For example. the previous guests had damaged a tap but it was quickly repaired by the manager. The owner kindly let us leave bags there until we flew on the last day, which was great. This apartment isn't ultra modern - it's a historic place so it has some character, but it's clean, comfortable and practical. The one downside we found is that the sound insulation between floors doesn't seem to be great, so we could hear the upstairs neighbours very easily. If you're a very light sleeper this might be an issue, but it didn't bother us too much. I suggest checking out Jardim do Torel ... it's less than 5 minutes walk and its a lovely place to sit or sunbathe.

Fantastic stay!

Very well equipped apartment on second floor. The property manager had pre-stocked our fridge with some beer and water and some croissants! Really nice touch! Each room has its own AC -so we were able to sleep very comfortably! Amazing tiny Tapas restaurant is just a few steps away! Highly recommended!

Worst experience

10 minutes before check-in (despite the numerous messages sent for the check-in procedure a day in advance) the owner calls me saying we cannot stay there due to a water leak. We check-in the next day, despite several other set backs. First, the owner arranges us a ride for noon, nobody shows. Turns out his driver is in church and we are told to go find something to do for hours. Second, we thought the ride was complimentary, due to our inconvenience…wrong lol. I am still trying to figure out how to be refunded the first day. I asked the owner, no reply. The outside of the apartment is not what is displayed in the pictures. You must walk about 5-10 minutes to see that. This was a terrible experience in a foreign country. I would never rent here again.

Very nice apartment Comfortable beds Very well located to visit Lisbon Close to avenue de Liberdade who look like the Champ Elise in France The outside of the apartment does not look that good but when you are inside you forget all about that.The location of the apartment is very close to the metro and the buses. Comfortable apartment in historic renovation project with great location.

Maxwell the manager is a fine person and helped with reasonable requests. The railroad station, metro and ferries were all within walking distance. Our stay of 30 days allowed us to really enjoy Lisbon, Sintra and Calcilhas. We made friends with the cafe workers on the Avenue Liberdade--tell Pedro at Delta Q that the New Jersey couple said high. The grocery store just a block away was adequate for most of our needs.

Great space and awesome location! Clean beautiful old style apartment

Great place for 4 of us, steps away from the main avenue and the central plazas and restaurants. Check in and out was easy and we were even able to coordinate a last minute airport pick up which was so nice to have! AC units in house that actually work (been at a lot that don't) and they have a washing machine which is nice if you need to wash clothes. Def would recommend staying here...

Good experience for the price.

Our experience overall was a good one for the price. However, be aware of a few things. Our airport pick up was almost an hour late and did not have our name board when we arrived. Secondly, the apartment was cold at times and when we requested an additional space heater, we were told we were at maximum capacity for electrical use and could not use one. Thirdly, the shower water was lukewarm and not hot as to be expected. Really great location, responsive owner and decent deal for the price.

Convenient location

First of all, be aware that the apartment is not in the building in the photo, which had been my impression when I booked it. It is situated up a fairly steep hill, about 5 minutes brisk walk from the Avenue and about 10 minutes from the centre of town. Our first impressions upon seeing the outside of the building was of disappointment, but once inside we were pleasantly surprised as it was a lovely apartment, recently refurbished to a modern standard and all spotlessly clean. It was also extremely well equipped. The lobby of the building however was very dreary, with paint peeling from the walls and the main front entrance door did not lock, which was a little concerning. We weren't overly concerned about safety, but would have been happier if the front entrance was secured at night as has always been our experience in the past when staying in apartments of this type. We visited some excellent restaurants over the 3 nights - there was a talented singer/guitarist at the Brazilian steakhouse where we spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening and the Italian restaurant was also very good. I can also recommend the hop on/hop off bus as a way of seeing the sights, and the Tukxi for exploring the steep, narrow streets of the old town. For convenience, I can recommend this apartment although probably not for anyone who finds walking uphill difficult. Also, be aware that on top of the booking fee the owner also requires a returnable deposit of £100 upon arrival and a further 45 euros for cleaning and laundry, which we weren't aware of until a week before. The deposit was returned upon our collection for the airport - complimentary airport transfers are included, which offsets the cleaning fee as we didn't have to book a taxi. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Great apartment

This property was exactly what we needed when we traveled to Lisbon with our granddaughter, but bring your walking shoes, Lisbon is a very hilly city and the apartment is on very steep hill. The property is close to shopping, restaurants and many of the sights. We were sent detailed information about the area and the apartment prior to our arrival so we felt very well informed when we got there. They also provided free transportation to and from the airport.

Well equipped modern apartment in a reasonable location

Location: Less than 10 minute walk from the train station (main tourist area starts just the other side of the station), good supermarket 5-10 mins up the hill (lots of smaller food shops within 2-3 mins). Underground 5-10 minute walk. You are not right in the tourist areas, which is probably reflected in the cost - however the location is less frenetic at the end of a hard-day sight seeing! Looks: Don't be put off by the outside of the building, inside the apartment is really nice and well equipped. Owner: I mucked up my email address on the homeaway website. The owner of the apartment was great in helping me sort it out. The (cost inclusive) airport transfer worked smoothly, making the journey so much easier. Cost: Not mentioned is an additional €45 cleaning/laundry fee; on top of a €150 cash deposit. However the deposit was readily returned, with no problems what so ever. Overall: Would happily stay here again.

A great central location for exploring Lisbon

Don''t be dismayed by the entrance and stairwell. The flat is renovated, bright, airy and very comfortable. Beds were great, kitchen had all the necessary gadgets ( a two cup french press would be welcome ) and enough space to enjoy and relax. Lots of little markets nearby for food/beverages and very close to some fabulous restaurants. Jun picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at end of our stay - very helpful. This is a short, but steep climb up from the Libertad and close to higher end shopping. Bairra Alto a 15 minute walk ( everywhere in this city is up and down !).

Nice apartment but difficult location for drivers or people with disabilities

We recently stayed in Lisbon for five nights in this apartments. Although the apartment itself was nice and clean,it was difficult to get to if you are driving to Lisbon. You have to park in a public lot about three hundred meters away up the hill, and then bring your luggage down the hill. The entrance to the apartment is disappointing but once you are inside its not bad. If you have any walking disabilities this apartment is not for you since you have to walk up one flight and there is no elevator, plus the street in front is a steep hill.

Luxus versprochen ?

Die Ferienwohnung ist wirklich wie versprochen zentral gelegen und für 4 - 5 Personen durchaus groß genug. Leider schimmelt es sowohl an allen Fensterwänden als auch im Bad und als Maßnahme dagegen wurden einfache Duftstäbchen aufgestellt, die den massiven Schimmelgeruch übertönen sollen. Geputzt war - aber nach ganz anderen Maßstäben als in Deutschland, in der Besteckkschublade lebten die Silberfischchen. Genau gegenüber extremer Baulärm, wir waren jedoch kaum in der Wohnung, weil man unglaublich viel in Lissabon erleben kann, deshalb völlig ausreichend. Das Hard Rock Cafe liegt ca. 5 Fußminuten entfernt und durch die Hopp on, Hopp off - Busse wird die Geschichte Lissabons fassbar. Lohnt sich einfach. Andrea, Nicolle, Niklas und Bengt

Lovely inside

This was a charming little flat with a few small issues. There were some hidden cleaning fees that I didn't know about until the day before we arrived, but it was understandable. The power would get blown out occasionally if it was too taxed, so no dish washer and clothing at the same time. But there were climate controllers in every room, which made the place perfect for Goldilocks and each of her bear friends. The owner is very eager to please his guests which lead to us having to check out early because of when their flights arrived. And parking was not actually provided with the flat and we would occasionally have to walk five minutes up the hill to a local park where we would leave the car. This apartment had a lot of pros and cons. It was nice for a short holiday but I wouldn't visit it again.

Everything was excellent

Every detail matched the description. If You want to discover Lisbon, just rent this apartment! Our practical tips (2 adults with 3 and 1 year old kids): - Get Via Viagem public transport card and charge money to it. The card is valid in metro, bus, tram, some trains, ferry, elevators and santa justa lift. Don't buy expensive tourist cards. Charge cards next to the elevador da Gloria. Cash only. You can try also ticket machines at metro stations, but we always got "operation cancelled" with both Visa and MC. - Usually the second or third ATM gave us money, don't know why. Be patient! - Also use taxis! A ride from the apartment to Castelo San Jorge cost 4.25, to Belem 7.50, to Cristo Rei 12.50 and from Pingo Doce supermarket near Rossio station 2.90! - If You are travelling with kids and need a doctor, use hospital Luz (blue metro line / Luz). Cash only or some insurance cards, no credit cards. - Every restaurant will pack you dinner for take-away. We often had our evening supper home because of our small kids. Elevador do Lavra operates from the "restaurant alley" up very close to the apartment. - There is a children's playground less than 100 meters from the apartment. Up the hill 30 m, turn right and you are there! - You can have your breakfast in the cafe across the street. Coffee only 60 cents. - In the kiosk 50 m downhill you'll find milk, water, beer and wine. - Very big shopping mall Colombo next to metro station Luz (blue line). Also large Fun Center at the top floor. Other mall Vasco da Gama next the metro station Oriente (red line). - If you are a member of Regus business world and need to work a little bit (or print boarding passes), there is an office just in the corner of Avenida Liberdade and Rua das Pretas. - Eyewitness travel guide Lisbon (available in different languages) is great.

Excellent Base for Visiting Lisbon

We had a very enjoyable week at this lovely apartment in Lisbon. The apartment is on a steep hill five minutes walk (down hill) to Avenide Liberade but we found that taxis were inexpensive and used to get a taxi home in the evening after we had done our shopping (euro5 from main railway station where there is a good Pingo Doce supermarket). The apartment does not look much from the outside but the inside more than makes up for this as it has been renovated to the highest standards and is very comfortable with all equipment being of the highest quality. The beds are very comfortable and there is constant hot water it is also very clean. Being met at the airport by Antonio was most welcoming and he was very kindly drove around trying to find a shop where we could by some milk which was not easy at 9pm on a Sunday but he found some where and as we were not returning to the airport at the end of our week he agreed to take us to the car hire office. The transport system in Lisbon is excellent and very inexpensive- buy a 24 hour pass and you will get your money back with one ride on an elevator.Also don't miss the World famous pastry shop in Belem even if you have to wait for a table. There was a problem with the light in the entrance to the building which did make the stairs dangerous at night as you could not see a thing and nothing was done about it during our stay and it would have been nice if some milk could have been provided for late night arrivals as had Antonio not been able to find a shop open it would have meant we would not have been able to have a drink when we arrived and we would have had to walk either up or down the steep hill in the morning as the supermarkets are either at the top or bottom of the hill that the apartment is half way up. We did however have a great week in Lisbon and we will return again and would not hesitate to book this aprtment again in the future
