Our 19 Shasta vacation rentals have over 1200 FIVE STAR reviews.
This is a special place for all to enjoy on the BEST lake in California. Flat, easy to find, 80-90 degree water in the summer and 365 miles of shoreline when full. Located on the most desirable part of the lake (the upper Sacramento arm in the wonderful community of Lakehead).
For more information please see our website by doing a search for "shasta lakeshore retreat."
Due to a great number of returning guests we tend to book up early especially for the summer months. Our 2026 and part of 2027 calendars are now open.
Notes: this is a wonderful place but there are several things we want to make sure our guests understand:
1. The house has a trail to the water's edge and marina but the elderly should avoid and children should be monitored at all times.
2. There is wildlife so please be aware when children and pets are present.
3. Although Lake Shasta is the best lake for water sports, swimming, fishing and general boating in California, it is a reservoir like many lakes in California. The water is let out all year long into the Sacramento river which supplies water to many parts of the state. This pushes our distance from the lake house to the water out as the level drops. For 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023 the lake filled to top....in 2020 it was 30' from the top and 2021/2022 was down significantly. Go to our website and check the "Shasta Lake Water Level" page for our latest updates. 2024 is expected to be very full again.
4. The lower water levels might make the boat ramp several hundred yards further and will make the walk to the marina longer or require you to drive. Even in 2015 and 2021 when the lake was the lowest, it still took us only 30-45 minutes to drive our boat at speed from one end to the other. There was plenty of famous Shasta WATER. Although rare, if the water level drops to 140' or more it starts to impact the availability of the local boat ramps and marina. This requires a drive to another part of the lake. We have never seen a situation where there is no access to the lake and all marinas were closed.
5. The decks are high off the ground. Although they have railings as you would expect, if you have children, you need to watch them at all times outside as a fall from the deck would be serious or life threatening.
6. The stairway to the lower floor is steep. If you have elderly staying with you, we recommend they stay on the top floor.
7. We are strict with our rules including max number of guests (12), max vehicles/trailers of 5. The first 7 guests are covered by the base rate. There is an addition $15 per person charge per night for the number of guests beyond the 7. We do this to offer a lower rate for smaller groups that have less wear and tear on the home.
8. Forest fires are common in summer and fall in Northern California. Obviously we have no way of controlling these events so please assume that smoke from a fire might impact your stay. Please do not book our homes during these high risk fire seasons if you have concerns about air quality or have people in your group with any asthmatic health conditions.
9. NO SMOKING! NO WOOD FIRES OUTSIDE!
10. Rental Agreement Required at time of booking. Many additional photos and new video tours available on our website. Search for "shasta lakeshore retreat"

We enjoyed the lakefront location and the separation from adjacent neighbors that this house provides. The beds were comfortable and there was adequate seating for a large group both inside and on the lovely deck.
The a/c kept us cool and the house seemed to have every little thing we needed to cook several meals.
We look forward to returning in the future.
Beautiful lake location. Loved watching the evening sunset from the deck. Lots of room to spread out. Lovely quiet neighborhood. I don't recommend trying to get down to the water if your senior or carrying a child. Great retreat are so close to boat rentals. Thank you so much!

4th of July family reunion
We just finished a wonderful stay at Shasta Lakeshore Retreats. Lori and Dave were very accommodating with any questions or requests we had. Houses were all very comfortable for our group. One home was a little further than we liked but no fault of the resorts. We just didn't look at the map well enough prior to booking but something to keep in mind if you are getting multiple homes for your group. We will most certainly book again!

Excellent location and everything you need.
The location of the house and proximity to the water and sugarloaf launch was perfect. Even with the water down at the end of summer, we were still able to leave our boat close to shore and walk back and forth to the cabin. The amenities in the house were all we needed and everything was spotless. The house is split into two levels with ton's of room downstairs, so it would be great for an even larger group than ours. Plenty of games, paddle boards, canoes etc. for anyone who may be coming to stay without a boat of their own. We will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful Location
We had a large family celebration and used retreat #4 as an "overflow" house for sleeping (the main house was retreat #3 which I highly recommend). It turned out to be the main "hangout" house for the teenagers that were there. The basement game room with air-hockey and foosball table seemed to be a natural place for the younger generation to make their own area. They also voiced that they enjoyed the room with multiple beds and air conditioning unit that kept the room cool during the hot days.
The hostess Lori was great! Very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. She checked in once during the week to make sure we were happy and then left us alone to enjoy our stay.

Gorgeous!
This property is serene, private and has a stunning view from the deck. It has a warm, woodsy feel, is very spacious, and well-equipped. We especially enjoyed trying out the standup paddle boards. The whole check in process was easy, and upon recommendation from the hosts we rented a patio boat from the nearby Antlers marina and spent a whole day exploring the lake. We could actually drive the boat directly to the home and load our belongings from there instead of taking everything to the marina! Several deer appeared each early evening to browse from the garden. We only wished we had a larger party with us to take advantage of all the games and toys. Would be a great place to get several families together, with plenty of beds and a whole floor geared towards the kids.

Perfect family vacation!
We all really enjoyed our Shasta Lakeside retreat! The retreat was perfect for all 11 of us & hopefully we can return next year!!
Plenty of space inside as well as outdoor seating. The large enclosed patio was an added bonus with our small grandchildren. We took our four grown kids and two grandkids and had plenty of comfortable space and plenty of activities to entertain us: a game room with extra fridge (very nice touch) as well as lots of lake activities provided. The updated kitchen had all of the essentials needed to cook all of our meals for the weekend. The cabin is steps to the lake but be sure to bring lake shoes as the shore is a little rocky. We can't wait to visit again!
Has everything you need and more. Great place for larger groups and separate families. Never a dull moment!
Getting to lake was a bit rough up and down otherwise great
The home was rustic and perfect for a family with older children.
The owners were very attentive and checked in with us to make sure the stay was going well. The description of the home in the ad was exactly what we experienced. We had a great time.
This property served my whole family, including the dogs, really well. We didn't have one complaint. The property manager (Lori) was super helpful and responded quickly.
My husband and I brought our 6 Grandchildren (8-15) to this cabin. It was perfect!! We had the downstairs mancave and the upstairs she shed. Plenty of room for all of us. Game room was a big hit as well as the outdoor deck and propane fireplace.
Loved our time at Shasta! Cabin was awesome. Kitchen was well stocked, bedrooms had lots of sleeping accommodations (very comfortable beds), and the home felt very clean. AC worked great-a nice break from the high temps outside! Water levels were so low that it was quite a hike down to the lake-hopefully we’ll be able to return another time when the water is higher. Would definitely recommend this lovely cabin as a great alternative to a houseboat!
Long overdue review. We have stayed at retreat #4 this time and again were so happy with our stay. Lori is an amazing host and made sure that everything was perfect for our stay. Very attetive host. We are a family of 7 with 2 large dogs and a special needs son. Everyone had plenty of space and had a wonderful time. You won't be disappointed, we always have an amazing time. Thank you, we can't wait to return!
Stay went good. Except some small issues.
Description of beds was little wrong. And was not enough spoonful first night but owner fixed that quickly.
One night neigbours was having party and screamed and fighted till 3-4 am. We spoke to them next day and they finished their party earlier next day .
I just misunderstood about firerpit and made fire and iy was not allowed to use.
Everything else was fine.
