I am a host with 13 holiday let properties so we based our review on both a personal and professional basis.
The good bits:
The communication with the owners was very good, even to the point of directing us up the mountain which was a great help. Their housekeeper met us at the chalet to show us around.
The bedrooms were a reasonable size and had good storage. The living/dining room was a good size with lovely views and made cosy by the Woodburner. The kitchen was small but had a full size oven, hob and fridge freezer. We made much use of the raclette which made for an easy supper after skiing.
The chalet was about 100m from the nearest ski slope, so whilst it's not possible to ski in/out, it was a very easy walk, as were the shops and bars. We all slept well! We managed to park both cars opposite the chalet which was great.
The not so good bits:
* For the cost of the chalet, we were very disappointed that the basics of self catering were not provided, this included hand soap, salt, pepper, oil, and washing up liquid. Some toilet rolls were provided.
* The two sofas in the living room were extremely uncomfortable to sit and relax on, we appreciate that they are sofa beds but I know (because I have them), that there are far more comfortable sofa beds available.
* It would have been nice to have been provided with a basket of kindling and logs for the first night.
* The kitchen was not as well stocked as it could be, there was no grater and no covered roasting dishes.
* In the wardrobes there was a complete mismatch of wire and plastic hangers, not essential to a holiday, but it would feel much more like a professional unit if there were, for example, just 8 matching hangers.
* The deposit scheme was awkward if you don't have access to a bank issuing euros. We paid cash which meant we had to wait for the housekeeper to turn up at the end of the holiday rather than shooting off as early as we would have liked to. A card machine would be so much easier to collect and return the large deposit.
* The ski locker was very snug for 6 people, I doubt 10 sets of skis would be able to fit in.
* There was only one set of keys for the lower door, which is the first one you come to when arriving at the house and the last one to leave from - a second set would have been helpful.
The points raised are in relation to the cost of the property and the comfort level, overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again.
