The cleanliness, amenities, and service were outstanding. The food was incredible—the best we had in Japan. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common lounge with books and refreshments was a nice touch. The staff were extremely polite and attentive. Their hospitality made our stay very special. We loved the complimentary matcha service and the massage cushion in the library lounge. Overall, it’s the nicest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. We’ll definitely consider staying here again. This is a beautiful property on a quiet street away from the bustle of Kyoto but only about a 5-7 minute walk from the train station. The chef and dining staff are amazing - the best food we had during our stay in Japan (and we ate amazing food everywhere we went). Our room was clean, decorated well, and comfortable. It was expectedly small, but the common lounge room with books, games, and refreshments made it easy to relax nonetheless. The staff were kind and hospitable, although we had to get used to the idea of feeling like they were hovering a bit and leaving our key with them when we went out. I chalk that up to a cultural difference and see it as something that enriched our stay rather than an inconvenience. Would definitely consider staying here again!

This hotel/ryokan was extremely beautiful and breathtaking with a beautiful garden, lounge area and dining hall. Our room was extremely spacious and very comfortable, and we were even provided with yukatas to wear! The food here was also very good. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

The hosts were charming and welcoming. However it’s not what I expected of a ryokan. I was thinking zen experience but the space was cluttered with guest amenities to the point there was little apace to put things. I would not recommend the first floor room towards the back. It had little natural light and felt like a basement. The facility needs updating. It feels a bit tired. The food was good but not memorable. Overall it was a disappointment. I hate to write this kind of review because the staff was so kind but other travelers should know. I wish I had.

A truly hidden gem in Kyoto; for those who want to experience a traditional Ryokan. Words cannot describe how exceptional the service was provided. The staff caters to each guest like close friends and family. Furthermore, the food served was delicious. The dishes seem so simple, yet so elegant and fresh. Ultimately, the moment experienced was fantastic. My only regret was not staying longer.

Beautiful hotel. The staff were so helpful and kind, the breakfast was so delicious, and the room was lovely. Highly recommend , and great for couples.
