Welcome to Gurugulu, a private off-grid forest chalet tucked into the snowy foothills of Mt. Yotei in Hokkaido, Japan. Just 10 minutes by car from Niseko’s Grand Hirafu ski resort, our peaceful retreat offers a rare combination: close proximity to world-class powder skiing, and total immersion in nature’s silence.

The Space
This spacious, family-friendly lodge accommodates up to 8 guests comfortably. With large common areas, expansive windows facing Mt. Yotei, the chalet is both warm and luminous—even in deep winter.

Sustainability & Philosophy
Gurugulu is more than just accommodation. It is a space built with care and intention by a Japanese couple living next door—your hosts, who are long-time residents of the Niseko area.
The lodge is handmade with local materials and powered by the sun. Water is drawn from a mountain spring. Waste is composted where possible.
We believe in slow living, small footprints, and big memories.

Before You Book
This is an off-grid eco-lodge. Power and heating are reliable, but we encourage low-impact use.
No parties, no smoking indoors, no loud music—our forest is quiet, and we wish to keep it so.
Children are welcome, but the space includes stairs and natural terrain outside. Please supervise young kids.
Winter driving can be challenging. We’re happy to advise.
