エイジングSCAPAを楽しめるホテル
カークウォール港の正面に位置するホテルです。レストランとバーの使い勝手が非常に良く、レストランは非常に美味しく、朝食ではコンチネンタルスタイルや地元のお魚の燻製を焼いたものを選択することが可能です。オススメは魚です。バーではSCAPAの複数のカスクものが楽しめます。部屋は古いですが、コンパクトで使い勝手は良く不満な点はありません。ホテルスタッフは情報豊富でレストランの相談やタクシー等の予約も難なくお願いできました。早朝のフェリーに乗ることを伝えたところ、朝のお弁当も作ってくれました。非常に助かりました。

バスターミナルからも近くて便利でした。部屋も綺麗で良かったのですが、値段を考えると、バスアメニティの充実や朝食の野菜の量は改善の余地があるような気もします。周辺にホテルの数が多くないことを考えると、選択の余地はないのかもしれませんが。

文句なくおすすめできるホテルです
フェリーポートのすぐ前にあるホテルです。ツーリストインフォメーション、空港や観光地への路線バスの発着場、メインストリートにもほど近く、どこへ行くにも良いロケーションです。部屋もリニューアルされた後なのかとてもこじんまりと綺麗でした。シャワーのみでバスタブはありません。WiFiもスムーズに繋がります。スタッフもフレンドリー。リフトのない小規模ホテルなので、上階の部屋はスーツケースの上げ下ろしがきついですが、チェックイン時は親切なスタッフの方々が手伝ってくれたので助かりました。朝食は前の晩までにリクエストする形で、フルスコティッシュブレックファストか、オムレツかポリッジ、魚類と選べてとても美味しいです。レストランの数がそう多く無いカークウォールの街中において（終わるのも早い）、 ディナーの 評判の良いレストランが併設されていることは大変おすすめできるポイントです（予約をした方が無難です）。宿泊される方は是非ここでオークニービーフを味わってください。大変気持ちの良い滞在で良い想い出となりした。

The Shore was a wonderful hotel for our trip to Orkney. The rooms where spotless, the shower was wonderful and the restaurant served delicious food.

The Shore is a property bought by The Kirkwall Hotel and is directly next door. I thought our room was charming and had a beautiful view of the harbor. There was a bottle of water, a kettle, a French press and coffee provided along with cookies. No fridge, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for us. The rooms are clean and updated for such an obviously older building, but the rooms are small. O eve again not a problem for us. You don’t want to stay here if you have trouble with stairs or you need space to spread out. But we really enjoyed our stay here.

The Shore is affiliated with the nearby Kirkwall Hotel. Breakfast is at the hotel. There is no lift, so if your suitcase is heavy it will be a challenge.\ the room was great. The Kirkwall was great. We were able to leave our bags for the day, and enjoy the upstairs lounge while we waited for the buss to our ;ate-night ferry.

The Shore was bought by the owners of the Kirkwall as a room add on facility. The room was clean and quiet. Check in and check out is done at the Kirkwall and breakfast is served in the Kirkwall as well. The front desk folks were pleasant and helpful. The room could have used a little attention by the cleaning folks. These are not new buildings so the conditions match the age. Breakfast is at 7:30 am and dinner starts at 6 pm.

Shore hotel
Although I slept in the shore hotel I wasn't made aware on booking that I would have to collect my keys, and have breakfast and dinner at the Kirkwall Hotel. Perhaps it would be helpful if this was mentioned on booking. But room was lovely

Det är ett hotell som väntar på antingen rivning eller renovering, för det är i rätt dåligt skick. Det gick inte att stänga dörren till toaletten, det knarrade och knakade om golvet, det var fuktigt i rummet efter duschen en bra stund. Men det var en skön och hård säng, kuddar och täcken var jättefina och jag sov fantastiskt gott. Ingen reception utan den hade närliggande Kirkwall Hotel. Vilket i sig inte gjorde något, för personalen var mycket trevlig och tjänstvillig, och nästa gång bor vi där, för där var det väldigt mysigt.

I was definitely not impressed with this property. It was recently acquired by the Kirkwall hotel but you can tell not much work has gone into it. The first room they had us in was a single bed, but though I booked a room with 2 beds. I also called the property directly, prior to my visit, to confirm this, but still wasn’t given 2 beds. Upon pointing this out, they did change our room to a much smaller attic space with 2 beds, but the door couldn’t open without hitting one of the beds, and the room’s window was covered with black mould, so we had to go back to the original incorrect room with one bed. Service staff was okay, not unfriendly but also seemed annoyed at having their mistake pointed out, and only after proving that I phoned to confirm 2 beds did the staff begin to look for a solution. Overall, it’s a decent location on a beautiful island, but when I visit again, I will likely find another hotel to stay at unless serious improvements have been made.

Dirty hotel the shore
The shore hotel room was dirty we had to ask to get the bed change on arriving kettle in room was the same food was terrible we sent back roast beef dinner was cold and old potatoes on the plate breakfast was under cooked could not eat it waist of £25 pounds not great cook’s will never return over price £685 for four nights in the worst room I have ever stayed in the Amex which is the shore hotel darkest damp room dirtiest room I have ever stayed in Kirkwall itself is a picture

Shockingly awful Shore Hotel
Warning - do not book Shore Hotel. The hotel is closed and operates as an annex to the next door hotel. It smells damp. Rooms are basic and cheaply furnished. It is like a ghost hotel. Noise from music in nearby building can be heard in room. Lock on room we were given did not work. Given the price - 165 for one night without breakfast- this level of accommodation is completely unacceptable. Thankfully when we went back to complain we were moved into a great room in the next door hotel.

Adequate rooms
Served a purpose. Comfortable but tired - being renovated in coming winter, and it needs it. Entrance hallway very gloomy and a bit stale smelling.

The Shore was recently acquired by its neighbor, the Kirkwall Hotel, so the reception desk is one building to the west - and various websites and other services (including the in-room phones) have yet to be updated to the new numbers. The building is irregular, with room in nooks and crannies. Ours was an attic with nice skylights and views, though many stairs to access. The staff, especially Andrew, were very polite and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will return in the future!

Cold, damp room with very small single bed.
When I arrived at 8pm reception was not manned. Only looking around I saw a note to say that I had to go to a different hotel to get key. If I was not local I would not have known were this other hotel was. I also called the number listed but know one picked up. Room was really dreadful, small, damp smelling and cold, the heating had not been switched on. I also had been given a small single bed, and room looked nothing like pictures. Soap dispenser in shower was empty. To be honest room was awful and the only reason I did not complain straight away was the fact that it was raining outside and I was incredibly tired after travelling all day. I informed reception that next morning at 6.30 am that I was dissatisfied, and that room was not worth the money and that I felt ripped off. This room was not worth the money and was an embarrassment to Hotel. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

It’s gonna be great…
This space was recently purchased by the Kirkwall Hotel property next door. It is going to be an amazing space once the transition is complete. The staff that helped us were kind and professional and our room was very comfortable. It was an experience we won’t soon forget. 😉

The hotel itself is good but the staff need to be a little more attentive to the guests. Just the little things like offering you another drink when your glass is clearly empty rather than having to ask. Some spend to much time chatting with each other rather than watching the needs of the room.

No in-house restaurant or bar
When we booked the hotel we were under the impression that there was a bar and a restaurant in house. However on arrival there was a note on the outside door of the hotel indicating that guests were to check in at the hotel down the road. We then discovered that breakfast was to be served in this hotel. This was a wee bit of an inconvenience especially as on 2 mornings it was raining. The breakfast was lovely and the restaurant staff were lovely too. Due to covid our rooms were not cleaned and we were left a note on which to tick any items we required (tea, coffee, milk, clean towels etc). We were to leave our dirty towels outside our door when we wanted them changed, whereupon clean towels would be left on the floor outside our room. Could we suggest that the clean towels are inside a bag, as leaving them in a much use corridor with lots of footfall "unpretected" does not seem very hygenic. The towels however were lovely and white and of good quality. There were a couple of issues with our room, however these were resolved quickly.

The hotel had gone into liquidation and had been taken over by the Kirkwall Hotel. We were not informed about this before we travelled. When we arrived at the hotel the entrance door was closed and a note told you to check in at the Kirkwall hotel. When we got the key and entered the Shore Hotel the reception was in darkness and the door of what had been the breakfast room had black polythene covering the inside of the door. This hotel is not worth £145 a night and I could not recommend it.

Disgraceful experience with the room and G.M
The room I was given at the Shore was really not fit for purpose- the noise from other rooms and bathrooms around meant the noise in my room was incredibly loud-‘with workers staying and getting up from 3.30 am. It was horrible and I did not really sleep more than 3 hours. I spoke to reception and the General Manager was called - I found her to be dismissive and incredibly rude - she coldly told me they were aware of the problems and asked the receptionist to refund me £15. She had no interest to engage with me- or show any concern or contrition for my experience. She barely acknowledged my presence and spoke as if I was not in front of her to her colleague. Having spent 25 years as an Executive in the hotel industry- I believe this GM demonstrated poor hospitality behaviours and it seemed to me the two staff members looked embarrassed. It was very disappointing and I believe she let herself down and the entire Kirkwall hotel down ( The Kirkwall Hotel now manages The Shore as an annexe).
