LAID BACK LOCATION WITH A CASUAL VIBE.
"Coco's Cottage" is a classic OBX "beach box" with what you & your dogs need to RELAX and enjoy your time at the beach. Located near MP 6.5, between the roads. Built in 1972, much of the interior remains unchanged, including some of the decor & artifacts! 2 full baths & 2 queen beds, along with 2 twin beds. Comfortable furniture, kitschy decor, pet-friendly front porch and under-house area (picnic table, grill, ice cream maker, shower), LOTS of kitchen utensils, and tons of relaxing vibes! Games, books, Wi-Fi, TV's and the same beach & salt air as available at places costing 18 times as much!!
1 block from the Beach Road & 5th St beach access at the LIFEGUARD BEACH. 3 blocks from the Avalon Fishing Pier. Target (with Starbucks) is at the end of the street, and on the way to the beach. Belk, Food Lion and other shopping is across the by-pass from Target - all within walking distance.
**NEW for 2025 - North Carolina's FIRST 'WAWA' has opened across from Target. Get your subs and head to the beach !!!! **

Unfortunately, there was a storm in the beach views weren’t very good. Not the owners fault. The house is old and showing it didn’t feel very inviting. It wouldn’t be a bad place to stay if you had six cats. It certainly wasn’t worth the money that I paid for it.

Good times!

Location was excellent and the house actually seemed larger than the pictures showed. Bed were comfortable and everything worked as expected.The electronic door lock was a little weird, but we got that figured out. Probably because I had never used one like this before.10/10 would definitely stay again.Thanks!

Lovely little cottage!!

This was our first time booking an actual house for our vacation. The neighborhood is lovely and the cottage was in a great location! The cottage remimds me a lot of our family cabin so we felt right at home. The host was very prompt with all communications which made check-in and check-out a breeze! We would stay there again for future vacations!

Kill Devil Hills

Nice older house. Only drawback was the window unit AC units didn’t cool very well until the 3rd day of our stay when I discovered the filters had an inch of dust and hair, I cleaned them all then it was better. Didn’t get to go out on the beach but for 1 day of a 7 day stay, not the Host’s problem or fault that it rained and was in the low 50’s all week.

Excellent location!

We had a fantastic stay at Kill Devil Hills. This is an excellent location just one block from the beach and across the street from Target and Starbucks. We were also walking distance from restaurants so did not have to drive at all during our stay. Beautiful beach. Very dog friendly place. Remember to bring your own linens and toiletries and it’s a great place to stay.

Lots of great song recommendations!

The first thing my husband noticed were the cute post its randomly placed with song recommendations! The house is super close to the beach and was very cute! We had our 2 doodles and they absolutely loved the closed in porch to be on neighborhood watch the entire trip. The owner was very friendly and check in was super easy!

Christmas at Coco's

Only problem was trying to contact Don to confirm arrival. Vrbo would not allow access, kept steering me to setting up a Vrbo account which we are not interested in. Otherwise, enjoyed our time at Coco's.

Pawfect place

Was a great house to stay in. We’ve been coming to the OBX for decades, and this has to be one of the most convenient spots. Really enjoyed the neighborhood, walk to the beach, and character of the place. One recommendation would be to put the “No linens or towels” provided somewhere more obvious. We missed that memo the first night we showed up. Otherwise it was great and will be back.

Wonderful

Coco’s Cottage was a wonderful stay. Leaving us within walking distance of wonderful spots, making the stay easy breezy. Kitchen and rooms suitable for each member of our groups needs. Can’t wait to come back will be “saving the spot” for future stays.

Great property. Easy access to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. The host was open, honest, and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this listing to people looking for a reasonably priced beach escape!
