"The staff was super good. So helpful, they even walked me in the neighborhood to help me with shopping. The food they got me was excellent. They also helped me figure out how to get where I was going. And to get a taxi. Siliguri in itself is kind of a sketchy area, but it's inexpensive. And they are trying to make the hotel kind of an oasis in the midst. They were doing quite a bit of renovating while I was there, trying to make it really nice. Subham, the property manager, was extremely helpful and really went out his way to look after us, such as calling reliable taxis after we had two major setbacks (which didn't relate to the hotel I'll add). "I enjoyed staying at the Mount Amara, but there were a few difficulties – the hotel is very quiet because it is about 300 m away from the main road, and overlooks an open field. It was good being away from the hustle and Brussel. The main problem was that I had booked a room which had two double beds, because I was travelling with a young friend. "Food was good, facilities were clean but at 3am, despite the air conditioning being on, the temperature in my room increased to 26+ degrees celsius. The hallway temperature increased to above 30 degrees celsius making it extremely uncomfortable. There was no fridge in my room but was clean. The maintenance engineer advised me that the a/c system gets turned off at night. Staff attempted to be helpful. I then booked another hotel closeby."
