This was my retreat experience and was delighted by the place. I see that EXPEDIA rates it at 3 1/2 star but would consider this place much higher. The place is very new and decorated in a calm, simple but yet stylish way. The setting on the side of the mountain offers stunning views and the sound of the forest is so peaceful. I loved this private property and the owners of the property Lazara & Alex. We rented the deluxe bungalow. It was such a BEAUTIFUL view of the mountains, the pool was so relaxing and it was awesome to enjoy 24hr access to the pool and go night swimming. The grounds are beautiful with different types of fruit trees, lovely veranda to enjoy the view of the mountains. We especially love the sisters who run the place. They are quite attentive, making sure we were comfortable. We definitely would recommend this lovely bed&breakfast

Close to the airport, friendly staff, and clean comfortable rooms.

The room, the bed, the shower, and the breakfast—no complaints at all; on the contrary, it was all great. We'll definitely come back the next time we need to stay near the airport. The only thing we didn't like is that, although it's great that they are pet-friendly, the pet fee for a one-night stay was a bit high ($75 USD + tax).

This is a brand new property, recently built. This hotel has a great location, steps from the Costa Rica Convention Center, there are shopping malls, clinics, restaurants, at walkable distance. There is shuttle service to the SJO airport, Breakfast was great too including costarican typical food. Hope to be staying here again soon!

Nice staff, restaurant fine, pretty grounds

Wonderful property at the botanical gardens overlooking the San Jose city with nice walking trails. Tons of birds and butterflies. The on-site restaurant is top notch. I don’t need one, but rooms do not have televisions. Use caution if driving as the roads are steep and narrow. Cars and trucks often park in the road creating one lane there aren’t any sidewalks so people and dogs also share the roads so be mindful if driving.

I was a little worried during the taxi ride to the hotel that I had made a terrible mistake in picking the hotel as some of the areas look a little rough (by American standards), however, once at the gated hotel I realized that I indeed had made a good choice when choosing the location as the property is incredibly calming and beautiful. Just know that since you are out of the city you will need to use Uber eat or a taxi to get food as there is no onsite restaurant.

Just stayed here one night before flight out next morning. Seems pleasant, wish we could have enjoyed the pool. Had dinner and breakfast . Dinner was good, a little pricier than we found at most other restaurants in CR. Breakfast was included, few selections of some meats, scrambled eggs, fruit, toast and juices and coffee and teas.

We had a wonderful Christmas week at Canal Grande Lodge! Raffael and his staff were excellent hosts who made sure we had everything we needed. The small hotel was quiet and beautifully situated. You could walk to restaurants and a few small local stores. We enjoyed Santa Margaritas down the street on 2 nights of our stay. If you know this is a small, local property that’s comfortably lived in and you don’t expect a palace for your shoestring budget, you’ll be very happily surprised by this...

Great experience ! Dave ,Marsha, Elezar and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable ,and everything was taken care of. They arranged a tour,massage, taxi service, meal delivery, and were always there with any questions I had. Fresh breakfasts using local ingredients were delicious. I had a nice room near the pool and hot tub,which were always clean and available. Very nice landscaping with palm trees ,flowers,and plants. Being next to the canyon is nice, the property...

Going to CR by myself; the staff at Gardens House were awesome. They treated me and those I met that also stayed there very well. I will def return to this place when I come back.

The hotel was right next to the airport which was great for our late arrival and early departure from Costa Rica. We arrived at 9:30pm and were able to check in and get a good night rest after our flight. We enjoyed the great breakfast in the morning before heading out. Nice hotel with all the amenities and close to the airport. Has a variety of restaurants nearby that are walkable. Will stay there again.
