"Nice little oasis a little further out from the centre of the town. Breakfast spread was good and fresh. The cooked to order option is a nice touch. Perfect for those who has their own transport and would like a cosy little retreat after a long day of sightseeing."
"The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. When we checked in, they warmly introduced us to everything in the lodge and showed us the shared facilities. The pool area, courtyard, and both the outdoor and indoor decorations were very cozy and charming. At night, you can even take beautiful photos of the starry sky from the courtyard.
As for the room, the good points were that it was well equipped, had plenty of shelves and storage space for our things, and was cleaned every day. The main downside was that there was no air conditioning or heating, so it could get a little cold at night in winter. I would recommend bringing warm clothes if you visit during the colder season. Also, since we stayed in winter, the hot water for showering was not always very stable.
We barely speak Spanish, but the owners still made a real effort to communicate with us using a translator. On the day we left, we ran into some trouble, and even though we had already checked out, they still tried their best to help us. We were really touched by their kindness. The owners are truly a wonderful couple."
"Genuinely the best hotel I've ever stayed at in my entire life. The room was amazing, the facilities were amazing, the food + drinks were amazing, the excursions the hotel arranged were amazing and the staff were all amazing!!!! Definitely recommend"
"We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Kimal. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, which made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The hotel has a good, secure car park, which was very convenient, and the location is excellent—just a short walk from the main street, making it easy to explore San Pedro de Atacama’s restaurants, shops, and attractions.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and the bed provided a great night’s sleep. The only small improvement I would suggest would be the addition of a headboard, which would make the bed even more comfortable for reading or relaxing.
As the hotel is so close to the town centre, there was some street noise at times, but this is simply a consequence of the excellent location and certainly not the hotel’s fault.
Overall, Hotel Kimal is a charming place to stay with fantastic staff, a perfect location, and comfortable accommodation. We would happily stay here again."
"We didn't realize there were 2 properties under la casa de Don Tomas (check when booking!). We were dropped off at the original location based on the address we gave from Expedia but after speaking with reception at check-in were directed to their El Refugio location, which is the newer expansion and just a 3 minute walk from the original. The rooms were large and peaceful. Breakfast was included and excellent. Would stay here again!"
"Hotel is a little out of town, and hard to find (no signage really, dirt road) but very quiet and comfortable. The owners and staff are all women, except a grounds keeper, all very kind. Breakfast was lovely. Pretty pool, perhaps underutilized, with nice alcoves around it where you can spend a few hours. Rooms are nice little cabanas, bathrooms partially open (but very private), which I liked."
"This is the perfect hotel for our Atacama desert trip which provides all we need and exceeds our expectations, even having a shoe brush and cloth in room. staffs are very friendly trying all they can to help us."
"A gentleman at the front desk was quite rude. We booked two rooms, and neither of them had heating, even though the outside temperature dropped to 2°C at night. In addition, the doors and windows were not properly sealed, making the rooms even colder.
The next morning, for our second night’s stay, we requested either extra blankets or a space heater. His response was, “Well, this is not my hotel...”
After some back and forth, we eventually received both blankets and a space heater at late afternoon. It appeared that the hotel did not have enough space heaters for all the rooms, which seemed to be the real reason the front desk staff was reluctant to provide one.
Will not recommend to stay there."
