Staircase Rapids Retreat at Lake Cushman, Sleeps 6
10/10 Excellent
"This cabin was was great! I really appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and layout and views from the two decks. The ambiance was really nice. Being pet friendly was super helpful. It's always nice when hosts appreciate that they are part of the family and proactively provide things like pet coverings/blankets to help safeguard furniture. Communications were prompt, detailed and non-intrusive during our stay. Much appreciated - definitely recommend this place!"

Spectacular Views from every room
Right on the Lake with Dock & Kayaks
10/10 Excellent
"Perfection! The view was breathtaking just as stated from every room. We spent most of our time on the deck just relaxing. Another area to the side of the house had a fire pit with more chairs, grill, and a picnic table. Plenty of room for us. There was a switchback pathway down to the beach and another sitting area.Even on vacation, I love to cook and there was everything I needed, including appliances! First level is open concept, which allowed for great interaction between the living room area to dining room to kitchen. The two bedrooms are upstairs and how wonderful it was to wake up in the morning to view those beautiful mountains. Beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows or extra blankets if needed. With three bathrooms, no one would have to wait! The property was well maintained and the house was very clean and tidy. The bookcase was filled with a variety of DVDs books and games. Wi-Fi worked well and even our cell phones worked well.Communication. Again, I would say excellent. This host has thought of everything. There is a notebook which provides information about anything you would ever want to ask regarding the house and surrounding area. Also, there were very detailed and clear instructions on how to get to the property as it is in a gated community. If it weren’t for some doctors appointments we had to attend. I would’ve definitely asked if we could’ve stayed a few more days. Will be back!"
Cozy and Dog friendly retreat by Relaxing Creek & Hot tub by Lake Cushman
10/10 Excellent
"This was a beautiful find. The creek is the back is awesome for exploring. The hot tub was nice and warm. The kids enjoyed both a lot. The owner was awesome! Upon booking he immediately gave us information about trails. When I asked for some info on fishing he extremely helpful. He was super quick to respond. We had no issues during our stay, but prior to that he was always swift to respond.Hoodsport is a cute small touristy town, near the Olympics. The pass to the lower lake was awesome. There's a playground and a fishing pier. The water was crystal clear. The only issue, was the quality of the sofa bed. It could benefit from a foam mattress topper. Luckily the 7 year old is resilient. Highly recommend this spot. I plan to return for an extended trip in the future."
"The parking was good, staff was very friendly and rooms were clean but the noise from traffic was really annoying, unfortunately would not recommend or stay again "
"Location is awesome! On the water and close to town. House is unique, not very comfortable to relax in main room, only seating is kitchen chairs and a built in bench with pads, we ended up spending most of our time in the bedroom for more comfortable relaxing. I felt like the 175. Cleaning fee was HIGH, and for that money it should have been spotless, but it wasn’t, the basics were clean sort of, the toilet upstairs looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the tub looked like someone took a bath and didn’t clean supplies if you want to clean. Over all, I don’t think I would stay again, but I loved the location, and sleeping with the door open to the canal was wonderful. "
Cozy Winter Retreat w/ Woodstove & Old School Movies - Hoodsport / Lake Cushman
10/10 Excellent
"The home had obvious recent upgrades; everything was clea and in good working order. The funiture was comfortable and also newer with no obvious wear. The kitchen is well stocked to be able to prepare meals. The location is peaceful and beautiful with lots of good local outdoor activities. The home would also be great for a stormy day indoors."
"As soon as we opened the door a musty stale air met our sense of smell then sitting on the cloth covered couch lots of food particles/crumbs on it,sent lots of pictures to the host and said I can send somebody to clean it at 7pm,so we declined instead we vacuumed it ourselves. The porch was covered with cherry pink blossoms and dried old leaves, the mat in front of the door has not been lifted fir a while evident by dry old dirt and dust.Trying to cook the pots and pan were rusty and old scratched all needed to be disposed, the bowl had dried food debris, emptying the garbage under the sink had dried stems creeping from the wall and lots of dust, the windows were full of spiderwebs. The sidetables were also full of spiderwebs .As we kept sending pictures of our discoveries in the place;the host accused us of harassing, bullying her and that we are scammers. She said we were nitpicking everything and she's been a host for a decade and we were given a choice of vacating the property but there's no available/opening anywhere in the area and we already have our activities planned for the weekend so we just decided to stay.We expected the place to be cleaned before our arrival check in at 4pm given she has been doing it for a decade and pictures speaks for itself and surely we took a lot of them to prove our point. Will never recommend or go to this filthy shack . Advertised as waterfront but it's County park accessible stony beach"
