Jasper SkyTram Tours

Jasper SkyTram which includes snow, mist or fog and a gondola
Ride this sightseeing tram up Whistler’s Mountain and marvel at a panorama of peaks that includes Mount Robson, the highest point in the Canadian Rockies.

The Jasper SkyTram is one of the best ways to appreciate the sheer scale and epic beauty of the Jasper National Park, a UNESCO-listed site. Learn about the geology, flora and fauna during the trip up the mountain. Admire the cinematic vistas as you hike further up to the summit on foot.

Purchase your ticket and step aboard the SkyTram at the Jasper Lower Station. Tramcars depart every 9 minutes, but you’ll only be allowed to ride the tram up at your allotted time. As the cable car ascends up the slope, listen to commentary from a trained operator on board. If you have questions about anything you can see from the aerial tram, ask your guide they will be happy to share information about the mountain landscape.

During the ascent, look for wildlife roaming the terrain below. Grizzly and black bears, as well as moose, elk, mountain goats and hoary marmots are all common sights in this region.

Disembark at the Upper Station at an elevation of 7,546 feet (2,300 meters) and enjoy the incredible mountain views. Try to identify Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

At the upper station, wander around the interpretive boardwalks and be on alert for evidence of local wildlife. Fit walkers can follow an uphill path to the summit at 8,200 feet (2,500 meters). This trail is less than 0.75 mile (1.2 kilometers). On the way back down, stop by the Treeline Restaurant at the Upper Station. Relax at this casual restaurant and take in the superb views at over 7,500 feet (2,200 meters).

Remember to dress for cold weather. Temperatures at the top of the mountain are significantly cooler than they are at the base. Wearing layers will help you keep warm.

The Jasper SkyTram runs from April through to October. Hours of operation vary within this period so be sure to check ahead. If you’re driving, leave the car in the parking lot at Jasper SkyTram Lower Station.
