My friend was visiting from the United States and does not have a great impression after sleeping in a bed that sunk in. The lock on my room broke and when I left to go to neighboring businesses my personal belongings were left unsecured. The lock was fixed the night before our departure. "This is not an apartment in Portobelo like the map indicates. It's a house about a mile outside of town and it's a bit rundown. The AC can't keep up with the heat and the entire house has a slight musty smell. I left 2 weeks ago and I still can't get the musty smell out of my CPAP machine. We left early after only 2 nights because the house was so hot and and uncomfortable. The host was great. Very friendly and responsive and he provided great information on local attractions, but he was unwilling to issue a refund for our early departure. "
