La camera era molto pulita e spaziosa, a disposizione in camera un frigo con l'acqua, macchinetta del caffè con cialde e zucchero, set di posate, piatti e tazze. Ottimo, anche il ristorante, con piatti tipici fatti alla griglia o pizza. Ottima scelta per chi viaggia in moto come noi perché si ha la possibilità di parcheggiare la propria moto davanti alla camera. Personale molto cortese e disponibile. "Absolutely spectacular! The rooms are beautifully set into the authentic Matera caves, and the views are truly magnificent. The breakfast is probably the best I’ve had in Italy so far—simple, fresh, and delicious, with a lovely dining area that makes the experience even more special. The staff is attentive, warm, and welcoming. I am so impressed with this hotel and only wish I were staying longer. A truly unforgettable experience"

"The Room was excellent in terms of size and facilities and proximity to reception, the restaurant was also great. Just outside the front door of the room was the view over Matera’s Gorge and the caves across the valley. The Staff were excellent and arranged taxi at correct time for our onward connection. The Hotel was next to the Qasar restaurant which has excellent outdoor balcony with great views. Ideal for when the Hotel restaurant was closed. Breakfast was a real treat with a lot of local specialities as well as everything you would expect. Go early to get a great seat in the cave restaurant and enjoy the delights."

"Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita was one of the most memorable stays of our entire Italy trip. Staying in a beautifully restored historic cave in the heart of Matera was such a unique and magical experience. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still being very comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderful—warm, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh local food and excellent service. The location in the Sassi is incredible, and simply stepping outside the hotel feels like stepping back in time. More than just a hotel, Sextantio really feels like part of the Matera experience. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it!"

"This is an amazing choice to stay in historic Sasso! The location is spectacular! The views are stunning! There is beauty at every angle. You will wear out your camera. No wonder it's been used as a film location for multitudes of movies. Call ahead and arrange for parking because the hotel is in a no parking/driving location. You will understand when you arrive. The spectacular hotel staff will provide a shuttle service for you and your luggage. The amazing and friendly staff will assist you with anything you need. I can't say enough of how helpful and incredible the staff is! Definitely stay 2 days or more if you want to hike at the caves. The breakfast is also spectacular! There is amazing food in town too. Research ahead of time and make reservations as the best places fill up quickly. Truly a stunning choice to stay! BRAVO!"

"The property itself is in a wonderful, peaceful location. The junior suite was huge and appropriately appointed with period furniture. However, a plumbing issue resulted in our shower/bath not emptying. This wasn’t a major issue as we were only staying overnight but temperatures were close to 40C. The night manager appeared more concerned about the impact on the next booking rather than our comfort & we had no alternative but to leave in the morning without showering…."
