Great and quiet hostel in the beautiful countryside. There is an onsen 2 minutes walk down the road which is well worth a visit.

Wonderful stay. Impeccable service. Remote but rustically decadent. So relaxing and cozy during our stay between fall and winter. We missed the peak fall leaves but that did not detract from the natural beauty of this area and we still enjoyed the waterfalls of Oirase gorge and the small loop around Tsuta pond greatly. If anything the onsens were even more enjoyable in the cold weather, and we were grateful to have the opportunity to stay in such a historic and well-kept ryokan.

The room was rather large but bathroom was a squash. An XXL person would not fit in it. Room was clean and the view fantastic. As mentioned paying in excess of Y35,000 you would expect a full breakfast option- no Japanese food but toast and jam - that's it !

Onsen has great view of lake. Staff is friendly. Hotel is quiet and clean

Ryumontei hotel is a beautiful gem! The room was spacious and clean. The entire ryokan was designed around the gorgeous and huge Japanese garden which made every moment at the ryokan a picturesque moment. A must visit during autumn! The hotel was conveniently located within short distance to nearby tourist attractions such as oriase stream, lake towada and mount hakkoda. Oh and the dinner at the ryokan was out of this world! Sadhimi, crab, beef, fish, abalone... everything was presented beautifully!
