The location was convenient especially if you’re driving a car, parking was available right in front (or in back) of hotel. We had an issue with our door code not working when we came back late at night (11:30pm) but I was able to use the monitor/device by the front door to call for help. "The 5 star reviews are definitely fake, property is not maintained, rooms are not sound proof, not shower after hot tub, receptionist didn’t offer a free drinks that was included in my Expedia package being a VIP member. At sub $200 you can find better properties.."

"A beautiful hotel and setting with great amenities. We did the e-mountain biking and guided hike, which were lovely - the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Given that the hotel is remote and there are no food options, the restaurant and food was very expensive (but good). The baths were very nice. The room was comfortable but VERY HOT (this is not unique to this hotel, but a thing at all Iceland hotels we visited). Staying up at Highland Base was a highlight of your trip to Iceland."

"It was a place to rest our heads, but unfortunately the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. There was visible dirt throughout the room, and several surfaces that should have been wiped down clearly hadn’t been. The water also had a noticeable sulfur smell, which we understand is normal in Iceland.
