Pretty nice stay
This is a great location! They provided beach chairs and towels and snorkel gear which was great. It could use some nicer pillows and a little updating but overall we were happy with it and where it was located. Make sure to reserve parking as we ended up having to park across the street at the zoo which was a little problematic bc 3 out of 4 of the pay to park machines didn't work.

Great location near the beach
We've stayed at various units in Waikiki Grand due to its proximity to the beach and views of the park and Diamond Head. This unit had the bonus of being slightly larger than most, which made it perfect for my spouse and I. Everything was as described - including warnings to not use high-power appliances at the same time, which was easy to manage. We had everything we needed to cook small meals and a great patio set to eat and enjoy the views. Bed was fine, more on the soft side. Having stayed in this building previously, we knew to expect noise from Hula's though I will say it was more pronounced than other units as it was directly above. Not an issue for us and the air conditioner masks a lot of it, but know the weekends are pretty lively if you are sensitive to sound. Unit came with boogie board and 2 snorkel sets but no beach chairs or umbrella, if that matters to you. Overall, a solid value for a view and steps to the beach.

Perfect Location
I love the location of this condo. The beaches, shopping, restaurants and zoo are right there. (My favorite routine is heading around the corner for a Kai Coffee then watching the sunrise from the pier. Bliss.) The view from the room of Diamond Head and the beach were a real treat. Two lanais! That is exceptional. Truly exceptional. The room is large, the bed is comfortable. I was pretty impressed with the room. It gets a bit loud at night as the condo is situated above a popular bar. If you close the windows and run the a/c, that will help.

Waikiki Grand Hotel
Great location and fantastic view on the Diamondhead side. 180 degree view of the interior mountains, Diamondhead, and the ocean. Easy access up Kapahulu to the freeway for activities and just a short 1 block walk to the beach. We've stayed at the Grand each of our 17 visits over the past 27 years and find it very convenient. The only negative thing is that it was built in the sixties and the rooms are small by today's standards, but you don't come to Hawaii to sit in your room!

Great location
This VRBO i have stayed in a couple of times. Perfect area.... not the quietest on the front but the views are amazing. Get as high up as possible as the music from the bar will infiltrate the room until 2am. Host is super easy to communicate with. Rooms are small but clean and pleasant. Not luxury but nice! Again... cannot beat the area.

Great everything!!
Excellent location!! Great views of Diamondhead volcano, the ocean, Waikiki Pier and the Honolulu Zoo! Close to restaurants and the main strip! Felt very safe in this location … but really you can’t beat the views for the price!! Would definitely rent this same room again if we ever come back to Hawaii! Also they have a rooftop balcony that even gives you better views!!

Never Again!!!!
Great location and comfortable bed is about the only good I can say about this unit. Had to empty the air condition drain pan every day. Very noisy room. Very dated interior. There were 4 bath towels for 3 people for a 9 day stay. No hooks to hang them on so you could dry and reuse them. I had to go out and buy over the door hooks. No bed linens for the futon. We had to put a towel on it and take a blanket off of the bed so our daughter could sleep on it. I've never left a bad review for any room but this room is awful. I think the owner could spend a few hundred bucks and really update this unit to make it comfortable. It is a shame that this property is taking up such a beautiful spot in Waikiki. We tried to tell ourself that we won't be in the room much, which we weren't but when we were it was not pleasant. Never want to stay here again

Waikiki Grand is good
Property in great location very close to beach. Nice view of diamond head and ocean. Easy to get free parking on street. You can easily walk to many restraunts and shopping. Only issue we had was Ac could not keep up and was hot in room , outside temp was probably 87 to 89 degrees every day. Also minor problem the tolliet sometimes would not stop running and you had to take lid off and push float down.

Perfect location
Loved the location! Quaint room overlooking the Honolulu Zoo. The rental personnel were very friendly, and the check in process was a breeze. The bed and futon were comfy, but the room overall needs to he upgraded. We found the air conditioner to be full of mold, along with the vent in the bathroom. The air conditioning leaked all over one of the balconies, so you couldn't sit out there. Both balcony doors need to be greased or replaced. Very hard to open. The toilet constantly ran after you flushed it. Had to jiggle the handle to make it stop. Overall, a comfy room for the price. I probably wouldn't rent again, unless updates were done.

close to beach as advertised have stayed in this bldg before but not this room
the room was not like the picture online , the balcony door would barely open it had about 2 inches of water on the floor outside so we couldn't sit out anyway, room was filthy I took pics and would like to post them but can't, toilet run constantly the door jam in the bathroom was dirty! the floors were dirty! and I was charged a cleaning fee that was a joke if they are paying someone to clean this room, We didn't complain because I was told this was the only available room for our week there the TV was sitting on an old basket with a wall picture flipped upside down to serve as a tv stand Ha Ha

DONT STAY HERE!!! Our room had ONE table composed essentially of a plate of glass valences on top of 3 steel beams. Today we set A SANDWICH on the table and it collapsed on my boyfriends foot leaving him swollen and bruised. Upon checking out we tried to tell the front desk and instead we were blamed for the situation and told by the OWNER OF THE COMPANY “oh well that’s never happened before we never have that problem”. It just would have been nice to have our complaint taken seriously. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I’ll end this review the same way I started DO NOT STAY HERE.

Upon arriving (yesterday) we noticed the toilet would not stop running water after flushing. The property manager gave a quick look and said it was fine. Now it doesn’t flush at all. Unit is run down. Choose another one at this location.

Location, Location, Location
The property is just as it looks. The building and room are older, but it was clean and very conveniently located. The room is in the Waikiki Grand Hotel, an older hotel that also hosts Hulas (a restaurant/bar) that plays loud music until about 2am. I was staying in the room with my 2 kids (ages 7 & 9) and we were never bothered by the bar. The air conditioner noise drowns out the bar and street noise. The Zoo across the street has ample parking for $1.50 a night, which is cheap in Waikiki. Also a building down the street called the Waikiki Banyan has weekly parking for $80 a week and is just about 2 blocks away-not a far walk. Check in was smooth and simple, the managers were always available to help and answer questions, the front desk was kind and helpful, and the room had towels, dishes, silverware, cleaning supplies, TV/internet, cable, a small fridge, a microwave and a cooking burner. There is an ABC store right down stairs, the beach a few steps away, restaurants on every corner, and the hotel has pool and roof top for use. The only unexpected inconvenience was that the air conditioner condensation leaks into a bucket and if you did not dump the bucket regularly it would spill-over all over the balcony making everything wet. Since limited on rags/towels and one has to pay quarters to do laundry, it was difficult to clean up. Otherwise it was a wonderful and easy month in Hawaii. Well worth the money and overall just a great deal!

Great stay!
We stayed at Mark’s place for 6 days. The place was cozy, but perfect for our needs. I loved the two balconies! Great views! Yes, there is a bar two floors below, but we enjoyed listening to the music from live entertainers. We had no trouble sleeping. Boogie boards, sand toys, towels, a small cooler (that leaks) and snorkeling gear was provided. Everything is within walking distance, but we did have a car that we parked across the street at the zoo for $1 an hour. Don’t forget to go up to the terrace for magnificent views!

Awesome View!!
This place has a double balcony with a wide view of Diamondhead, zoo, park and a little beach too. Place is clean and management professional. It's 2 floors up from the bar so be prepared for some music at night and a bit of street noise, but if you don't mind that it's a super deal...

Noisy, great location to beach, amazing deck
The reason we booked was the location to the beach, and it did not disappoint. Less than a 3 minute walk to the beach and the views were just as great. The rooftop deck was perfect! Only complaint was the noise. Not only bar noise, you heard all the street noise and daily morning delivery trucks. New bed, futon and pillows could also go a long way. All things considered, we still slept and enjoyed our stay. But I would chose somewhere less noisy next time.

Fantastic location and great little room
We have stayed at the Waikiki Grand hotel before in different units - this one is well appointed and the two balconies with views of the zoo and beach are wonderful. On the positive side: there is everything you need in the room, and the location is spectacular. We stayed for a week and had everything we needed without needing a car: restaurants, snorkeling, boogieboarding, beach time. On the negative side: the unit is on the 4th floor and there is quite a noisy bar on the 2nd floor which meant that we slept with ear plugs several nights. We also found that the managing company was a bit overwhelmed and wanted us to fend for ourselves when little things went wrong. We would stay there again, but a few rough edges.

The view and location were good(Book parking early!!!)
The room is as advertised. It is small and if we had spent more time in the room, it would have been too small. Since we were out and about most of the time, it was fine. Only problem with this location was the noise. I expected the bar on site, but the street noise was bad. Woke up one night to an apparently drunk man walking down the street yelling profanities. Other nights were cars racing their engines at the stop light. Not sure if it was the person or the computer, but getting a parking pass was an extremely long process. Not to mention that there was only one spot left. Call ahead and book parking if you want it.

Marvelous!!
You just can't beat the location or the view. the room is clean and has everything you may need to stay in or go out to eat. the hotel staff are all very friendly all the time. there are two balconies to sit on and enjoy the view 24/7. check in and out is a breeze, literally steps to the best parts of the beach, surfing , body boarding just steps away. this was our second time in 6 months staying in the same room and we won't be staying anywhere else when we visit our family and friends on the island.

Great Vacation!
The property location is the best! Overlooking the Honolulu zoo and park . Parking is no problem, pay $1.00 an hour until something opens up in the free parking spaces that line the beach near the park. Just steps to the beach. We enjoyed walking up and down the main road just looking at the shops, people, scenery. The room was very clean, air conditioner ran 24/7 without a problem. the room has 2 small balconies that are wonderful to just relax and take in the view of Diamond Head. We had a great time and can hardly wait until our next trip in a few months. the Waikiki Grand Holtel staff were wonderful, very friendly, approachable, all around great folks. Plenty of hot water/ no noise from any of the other rooms/ stocked kitchenete with coffe and condiments, toaster oven, microwave, small fridge (perfect size), all silvervare, dishes, pots and pans, iron and ironing board. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Mahalos Mark!

Reasonable place to stay if you are on a budget. Close to beach and nice view of Diamond Head. Communication with owner is great, he responds on time to questions and concerns. We noted a few things that may need attention. The bathroom needs better cleaning; rust on the floor behind toilet needs to be cleaned and it smells. The AC on the patio drains in a tub and we have to dump it daily otherwise floods the patio. Counter space is very minimal. Power went off while we were using hair dryer which I was aware of from previous reviews though it was addressed promptly by the staff. Overall, we had a decent stay.

Perfectly situated across from the beach and zoo with stunning ocean and Diamond head views
Waikiki has become sooo expensive, especially for Canadians, it's amazing and rare to find such an affordable suite with every amenity you could need, plus stunning views of Diamond head, Kapiolani park, the zoo and Waikiki beach all from two huge balconies. Plus, you could take your happy hour cocktail and food up to the 10 th floor and enjoy the totally amazing views on the roof top patio anytime, particularly at sunset on lovely patio furniture set up for guests. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and helpful, as were Rob, Dave and Mark, the owners and hosts. Super fast responses to any issues at all like, is there any free parking in the area etc. We had an suv for two weeks and parked a block away on Monsarrat for free throughout our entire two week stay. There's no bugs, tons of beach towels, lots of hot water for showers, beach chairs, beach glassware, French press, toaster oven, microwave, cooking utensils, fridge, two great ice makers, etc. Good Wi-fi and HD satellite tv. The AC worked perfectly. There's an amazing burger place right in the hotel and you can phone your order in. There's even a quiet pool, a clean laundry room, drink machines etc. We had two queen beds, lots of room and can't think of many cons whatsoever. Considerations for some people are that the unit is two floors above an open balcony bar (with 2$ tacos on Tuesday) so the live music and street noise is significant and noticeable in the evenings. That being said, my daughter and I didn't have trouble getting to sleep with AC on at 9 pm and there must be some agreement to turn off music by a certain time, say midnight? The buildling is older so the plumbing issues cause the tub not to drain quickly while you're showering. As well, you can't use the toaster oven and microwave simultaneously or you overload the breaker. Front desk is fast at resetting if you call them. There are a lot of choices in the Grand Hotel, some more upscale than others. But, if you are fine with clean, cheerful, cottagy or dorm like accommodations I would choose this unit everytime because of the balconies, views, space, two beds, etc. And the hotel is very secure, well maintained and homey. Everyone is very neighborly. Beats staying at the noisy crowded, push and shove Hilton or Sheraton where there are no palm trees and parks on their beach to speak of, as well as exponentially more people.

Beautiful view!
The view from this apartment is wonderful encompassing the Diamond Head crater, Honolulu Zoo greenery, and a snippet of the ocean. It's a very functional apartment that provides all you need to eat, sleep, and wash up. The bonus are the boogie boards, beach chairs, and beach umbrella that are complimentary with the apartment. We used these a lot for our enjoyment. It always has a comfortable breeze blowing so we didn't use the air-conditioning at all. The swimming pool is a nice alternative to the ocean. Many food establishments and ABC stores nearby.
