"We loved James Bay apartments as a young family seeking a relaxed holiday in Barbados. Mark and PJ were great hosts and were very welcoming for the children. We enjoyed being in a more original property for the area, which accompanied by the great view to the ocean helped the relaxed vibe. The location is great, right on the beach and in the middle of the west coast. It’s a good half an hour (not safe for children) walk to Holetown, so you’d need a car or easy bus ride. We’ll be back."

"2nd time we've stayed at this apartment - we love it. Well equipped and very comfortable. The location is quiet and peaceful, Lovely grounds and a good pool. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance but we hired a car so we could explore the Island. "

"Our hostess, Marcia, was outstanding, communicating effectively throughout and even walking us to nearby restaurants. The apartment is clean but the bedroom is small with no room for end tables. Apartment is in a residential area that is relatively quiet."

"The property was very nice and clean. However, we experienced a few hiccups with the internet during our stay. Initially, the host was very friendly, checking in with us every morning and evening to see if we needed anything. Unfortunately, this changed when we encountered a flat tire on the car we rented from him. After that incident, the host stopped checking in and became insistent that we cover the cost of a new tire and rim. According to locals in Barbados, it was unusual for a host to react...

"We stayed at 89 Heywood Park for 10 days, enjoyed the peacefulness of the Neighbour hood, short walk to a nice quiet beach as well as Speightown, meals are reasonable priced at local restaurants in Speightown, always shopped at Jordan’s, good value for money, would consider staying again."

"Property is very hard to find. Owner was very adamant that electricity should not be on whole time. There's only 1 A/C unit and hostes was very upset that we kept it on over night (was very hot). There was hardly water to shower, it just trickled out. Cook stove didn't work properly"

"A home away from home. Nice host who is extremely helpful. The place is spacious and the rooms are great. We have enjoyed it immensely and really love that everything is pretty close by. No reason to rent a car there are busses going to all places all the time."

The Club, Barbados Resort & Spa Adults Only - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"I really liked The Club, it was very cozy and clean. It was great too because they have both a beach and pool on premises. The property is laid out in more of a villa design. Rooms were quiet and clean. There was some kind of entertainment every night, and there are 2 restaurants and a food truck on site. Get your reservations early!
One thing of note, the food service staff was not exactly friendly. In the morning they would pour your coffee and zip off not returning at all to see if you needed cream- so black coffee it was..... Food was more catered to British and Canadian crowd, which I was ok with. Most Americans would miss a more familiar cuisine.
Lastly, I felt the really nice thing was that although our plan left at 4 and checkout was 11, The Club allows you to stay and enjoy all while they place your bags on the side. You won't be kicked out and they won't charge you extra.
Overall a very nice place!"
"While the room and the pool were adequate, I had a number of problems with this property. They ran my Amex card three times for my deposit (it showed up immediately on my Amex app even though they claimed that it had not gone through on their machine); guest laundry cost $20 but they did not sell detergent. Breakfast had very limited choices. The guest rooms have an 8 digit code you have to memorize in order to enter. A fob key or 4 digits would be reasonable.
The attitude of the evening duty manager was woeful, and the lady in the morning was not much better. Sour would have been a compliment. Does this hotel not want guests? They didn't seem to. Having 'failed' to run the deposit they then wanted to take $150 in cash. As I pointed out, their faulty card machine was not my fault. And in the end, they ran my card for $450. Beware and stay somewhere that actually wants your business.

"A lovely holiday with fantastic staff, but let down by departure day.
Our recent stay here was genuinely lovely, largely thanks to the fantastic staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our entire trip. The accommodation was excellent, the food was great, and the amenities were generally very good. If you are travelling with family, the kids' club is absolutely fantastic.
If you like to work out while away, be aware that the fitness/gym facility is quite poor. The space is very limited, and there is a distinct lack of weight training equipment available.
Unfortunately, our day of departure really put a dampener on the trip. We asked to keep our room for a short while to wash and change before our flight, but we were refused because "new clients were arriving." Given that a large portion of the hotel's guests travel from the UK, the flight schedules meant it was highly unlikely new arrivals would be needing our specific room while we were still on the property. It gave us the distinct impression that the hotel was only interested in keeping new arrivals happy at the expense of departing guests.
Eventually, we were provided with a courtesy room to wash in, but the state of it was awful. It had a bad smell and was left in a total mess, complete with empty bottles and a huge pile of wet towels left behind.
We had a beautiful holiday, but the way we were treated on departure day was a very disappointing end to an otherwise great holiday"
"Brilliant location, helpful staff and clean. It's a little dated but that didn't impact our stay as it's what we expected. Beds were comfortable and shower powerful."
