"The rotation of breakfast items was fresh each morning, and coffee kept hot. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was efficient and friendly. We understand this is a downtown city hotel but did notice that the immediate entrance and area around the building could use some attention. For example, the walkway from the main entrance was strewn with leaves, had some discarded items, and needed a power wash. "

"The guy at the reception was generally helpful. It was easy to check in and check out. However, the room was not as I expected. There was not enough lighting, and the sockets on one of the walls were not working; because of that, the TV, mini refrigerator, microwave, and one of the lights were not working. The bedsheet had very light stains. Also, there were empty little zip bags in several places in the room. In the room and the bathroom, there were little coins, and this made me think that the room was not cleaned properly after the last guest checked out. It took minutes for the hot water to be available. So, I needed to wait for a couple of minutes to take a shower. The space between the door and the doorframe was wide enough to let all the noise outside into the room. Maybe this was only my room, and the other rooms were better. But for me, overall, this was not a good experience."

"The Holiday Inn Downtown-Arena is perfectly located for anyone who wants to be close to the Golden 1 Center, which is why I booked this hotel. All in all, I would recommend someone stay here for an event at Golden 1 Center, but that's about it. The staff is great, don't get me wrong, but breakfast and parking both cost $35/day. You can choose not to have breakfast but if you drive you can't really choose to not park your car. My room was clean and the amenities were good, so I could get breakfast items and bring them back to my room however I wish I had a microwave. The tub didn't drain very well (and I'm not sure why the guest before me didn't say anything) so I had to take 2 showers with little drainage, and the water flow/pressure kept changing during the course of each shower which was odd. I did appreciate the daily refreshing of my towels which I have not experienced in any hotel post-COVID so that was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Next time I visit Sacramento for an event at Golden 1 Center I'll most likely stay at this hotel, and would recommend it to anyone else going to Sacramento for an event at the Golden 1 Center. The staff everywhere within the hotel are warm, friendly, knowledgable, and wonderful."
