Very Accommodating
Great home for small children. They provided lots of toys, a pack n play, stroller and even a bed rail for my toddler who alligator rolls throughout the night!

Home on the Range
This property was as advertised. Communication with the owners was excellent. Check-in was a breeze. We found our home clean and stocked better than most. The animals were delightful and the farm setting peaceful. The central HVAC unit worked well. The beds and pillows were quite comfortable. Pet friendly was truly appreciated. We found the price point of this home appropriate and affordable. We would rent again if in the Hendersonville/Lake Lure area.

Family of four
We had a wonderful time! Great location, very clean, easy check-in and check-out process. Loved the black out curtains. Haha, you don’t realize how important those are till you have kids. We also got to enjoy the farm and our kids pet and fed all the cute animals. Fantastic and unique view to wake up to. We will stay there again in a heartbeat!

Great stay on the farm!
We had a great stay. Accommodated my family of 10 very well. Minnie, the dog greeted us almost every day! Very sweet! We visited family, went hiking, and snowboarding! The kids had a blast! All within a short drive. Would love to do it again!!

Perfect family togetherness spot!
The property was clean and well-stocked, the host accomodating, and the description accurate. Can't believe we were able to do so much close by and have the option to come "home" and re-group so easily. So happy with our exerpeince!

Fall Fun
Many thanks to Jonathon and Tonya!! Our weekend stay with some family friends was so peaceful. The house generously accommodated two families (six kids ages 3-10) and four adults. The animals were such a fun addition, and there were many inside and outside games and toys to occupy our time. We didn’t really want to leave the house to explore the area for too long because it was so beautiful right there on the property. We felt like we had everything we needed. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts!! Many blessings!!!

Home away from home
If you are looking for a home away from home feel this is your place. The owner was very quick to respond and answer any questions for us. The location is great and close to downtown Hendersonville and a ton of other activities. The place is very kid-friendly and provides toys and other items for your infant to your younger kids. The animals are a great bonus and once a day you have the opportunity to help feed the animals. When we are back in town we will be booking again and we already can't wait to come back.

Great farm getaway
We have a friend that lives in Hendersonville, so this was the perfect getaway for us to see them, watch some football, and enjoy the mountains and all the animals all while being 25 minutes from the Apple festival! Great place and Johnathan was so hospitable!

Enjoyed our stay in the mountains
Myself, husband and our children ages 12, 9, 7, 4, and 1 1/2 stayed for the week. We enjoyed feeding the animals each evening and went to Lake Lure beach, Chimney Rock, Asheville, and hiking during the day (all within an easy drive). We had plenty of space for our family and some space for the kids to play outside.

Family getaway
The property was beautiful and the animals were so much fun. We loves being away from the commercialism and crowds. We had no trouble getting in contact with the owners and they were so helpful. We had a wonderful time!

Indescribably Fantastic ☆☆☆☆☆
Very spacious ranch design farmhouse. Not sure where to start... The Farmhouse Retreat name fits, but we have a small hobby farm, so it was like home away from home... "HOWEVER", Having an Emu watch as we unloaded our gear, getting several visits from a Beautiful Ostrich that wanted to play with the football, the donkeys introducing their presence, to meeting the cat, (not usually my favorite pets), that absolutely won us over and is now dubbed, "Coolest Kitty Ever". It could've have been more fantastic. I spent 10 years as a Property Manager with Starwood and Marriott branded hotels in Charlotte. Le Meridien & Sheraton Charlotte Uptown ☆☆☆☆☆'s compared to branded hotels. Very well equipped kitchen, very comfortable, not commercial furnishings, fantastic firepit, nice deck with qualty gas grill, paved access and parking, board games, too much to list. Highly Recommend for families, friends, fishing trip retreats, etc. We are already planning a return trip.

Family Fun
We enjoyed our stay at FarmHouse Retreat! Jonathan was prompt anytime I emailed him! My brother talked to him and found him to be quiet friendly. The house was exceptionally clean. The beds were all very comfortable! Our cell phones worked at the house (ATT) and the Wi-Fi was awesome! We enjoyed watching the animals! Thanks for a great time!!

Mountain getaway
Had such a great time at the farmhouse! We had three kids ages 6,6 and 5 with us and they loved feeding the animals and getting to pet them everyday. Thought I wasn’t going to like not having a tv in the room but it was actually kind of pleasant. Fire pit was really nice. Loved that wood was provided. I will say kitchen could’ve used a few more things as far as Pyrex and some mixing bowls. Other than that it was perfect! Would definitely stay again!

Great place out off the beaten path but still close to civilization
We loved being able to wake up and see the livestock out the front window. The owners were very communicative and gave us direct contact numbers Incase we needed anything during our stay.

lovely place to stay in the fall!
The farmhouse was great, and there were so many cute animals right outside the front door. The driveway was marked well so we couldn't miss it. They had toiletries in case you forgot something, which was great because it's a ways to a store. The kitchen had everything we needed. And the fall leaves and frosty mornings were charming and lovely.

We had such a great time! It was clean, easy to check in/out, and we had a lot of fun! We got to help feed the animals, and the owners went out of their way to be friendly! Close to Asheville, and in a beautiful setting! I can’t recommend it enough!

BEST VRBO ever
Our family has stayed at a lot of VRBOs over the years and this one has to be my favorite. The house was perfectly set up - very clean and had everything we needed. The scenery was amazing and the animals were so friendly. Our kids loved visiting them every morning and every night. The owner even took the time to teach the kids about the animals and let them help with the feeding! Minnie is just the sweetest dog! The owners are super responsive and even rescued me from a a dumb mistake I made backing out of the driveway. They completely saved my car from getting damage. This was way beyond any host duties I would have expected. I would definitely stay there again!

The owners were wonderful and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure our children had as much interaction as safely possible with the animals. They brought horses down, when requested, and let them 'assist' during feeding times. 😉 The house was clean and all stated amenities were there. The owners are very responsive and really care about your stay. Although it was summer and probably seemingly too hot, they brought us firewood to have a campfire with our kids. We will definitely go back.

awesome vacation rental & hosts
Wonderful, restful vacation rental. Jonathan and Tonya had awesome personalities and made us feel at home. The house was so clean and was furnished with anything we could ever needed. Such a great place to spend a vacation. The animals were so delightful to watch and kept us entertained for many hours as we sat on the front porch. If you love animals, this is the place to go for a restful & quiet time and just watch the animals frolic over the farm. It is just the most wonderful place to spend your vacation and be able to just rest away from the hustle and bustle of cars, phone calls and all the other things that distract you every day. Again Jonathan & Tonya are just AWESOME! hosts. .

Relaxing Getaway!
We had an amazing time at the Farmhouse Retreat. It was so very relaxing and it was the perfect place to just unwind and reset. It's convenient for just about any food or shopping you may want, but "off the grid" enough to just sit back and forget about your cares for a little while. The hosts were awesome, inviting us to help feed all of their wonderful animals at dinner time. Their farm is a must see for anyone that has little ones or for anyone that loves animals. From Minnie the dog to Wednesday the mini donkey to Theodore the pig, we enjoyed all of them! We hope to visit again soon.

Short gettaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
Had a great time! Jon and Tonya are great hosts and provide anything you may need. Cozy but spacious. Nothing is too too far. Just type into gps before you pull out on to the road if you do not know where you are going. Signal doesnt really pick back up until you are closer to town. We ar from Mars Hill and loved seeing something different!The baby goat I got to hold was to cuteeeee! Thank you guys for such a great time! Hope we left it as clean as we found it! We plan on coming back!

Family Fun Off the Grid
We really enjoyed our stay on the property. We were greeted by a plethora of Christmas lights and a friendly little cat named Maxwell! We had fun on the farm during the day and a bonfire, marshmallow roast followed by beautiful stargazing at night. I even got to hold a baby goat! It was also greatly appreciated that they had some amenities available when we forgot to bring ours. I can't wait to go back.

A vivid, pleasant stay.
Have you ever been at a house where it just feels like you’ve lived there your entire life? The feeling I got as soon as I pulled into the driveway was; this shall be an amazing experience. It sure was…. We stayed 3 nights at the house. I’ve never been at a house where the owners are very attentive, ensuring you have a pleasant stay. Pleasant doesn’t do the job… I’ll explain a little further! Tonya and Jon were amazing hosts to say the least… We fed the goats, horses, turkeys and even had a pleasant breakfast with farm-fresh eggs! We walked through the property and caught the sunset on their 40acre property on a mountain just 5 min away walking! It was breathtaking. Lucy, the cow, was the highlight of our trip. This cow was as friendly as an animal can get. She was the first one to greet us as we were pulling into the driveway. It was love at first sight lol. Our 2 daughters, 4 and 2, were eager to interact with all the animals! They loved Theodore, the pig, the most. Just beautiful….. I’ll sure be coming back here very soon. Will try to make it a habit so our daughters can enjoy the real beauty of nature. Thanks Tonya and Jon for all your attention. This is sure one for the books! God bless you and your beautiful family! Fun Experience
Our group had a great time at the farm. I was fun being disconnected in the mountains with friends. The farm was beautiful and it was cool getting to interact with the animals. Would recommend staying here.

Baby Goats 🐐
It was a nice little farmhouse retreat. The girls enjoyed feeding and petting the baby goats. We enjoyed the sunset and the owners provided some firewood for the fire pit so we could make s’mores. The beds were pretty comfortable as well. The location of the house is very close to a fabulous winery.

Wonderful Family Time
This property is unique and amazing, especially if you have kids! Jonathan and Tonya have created a welcoming, comfortable get-away. They left us a s’mores kit along with fire pit supplies, treats for our dogs, and gave us fresh eggs from their chickens. We were able to walk right out the front door to see and interact with all of the farm animals. The house is clean and accommodating. We hope to stay again sometime!

The location of this house is great for scenic views and if you are visiting The Cabin Ridge venue. The house is simple and clean. It was roomy enough for our family of 6 adults and one child. The farm animals didn't bother us at all. Owners were very friendly and accommodating.

Family weekend for a wedding
We greatly enjoyed our stay. Jonathon and his wife were wonderful host. They answered any questions quickly. They were great were our two boys, who loved all the farm animals. We loved feeding the animals! The only thing is the house had the smell from someone smoking. I wanted to badly to give 5 stars because we really did love our stay. It wasn’t awful but I have a sensitive nose so I had a headache the whole time. The location was really close to Chimney Rock State Park and apple orchards. They also recommended the winery that was only 7 minutes away and it was amazing!!

Hello, we are glad you guys enjoyed your stay here at the farmhouse retreat. We are sorry that you had a headache due to the slight wood fire smell left in the house. The previous owner only used a wood fire stove to heat the house which led to very strong smoke smell, we have done extensive work on the house since to rid the house of all the smell. We wish this small inconvenience didn’t cost us a 5 star review after all the personal time we spent insuring you guys had a great trip on our homestead.

Fast and great stay

Fantastic Farm Experience!
We had a fantastic stay. It's hard to find a place that allows you to show up with 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a bunny. We could hardly pull our kiddos away from the animals. We even met a brand new horse that had been rescued the night before. We think he looks a lot like Eeyore, and can't wait to see what name they pick for him. Thank you so much!

Great place!
My wife and I stayed at this property for a long weekend get-a-way. Jonathan and Tonya were very accommodating hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was very clean and has all the amenities you need to go somewhat off grid with the common comforts from home. We enjoyed seeing the animals (literally right off the front porch) and our dog loved exploring the property. You're out in the country and on the farm but still close to nearby Hendersonville's downtown area which has tons of shops, restaurants, breweries and wineries. All in all, we highly recommend this property!

Great Escape Near Charlotte
This place and its owners are awesome. This farm has many animals and the owners were kind enough to let my son help feed them. The farm is close to many good family activities, such as Pisgah National Forest, Chinney Rock, Lake Lure and Asheville. The only thing I would want people to be aware of is that there is no wi-fi here and you can’t really get a cell signal either, so you can’t create your own hot spot, text, get calls or plaice calls, watch movies on your phone, etc. So this is a great total off the grid escape, but if any work comes up you’ll be running back to wherever you came from. Normally that would have been a big problem for me but I lucked out with work this weekend. Just something to know, but this farm overall is just wonderful.

We list in our description that we don’t offer wifi, not because we don’t want too but because we can’t get it at this time in the location of the house. We are working on a solution as we speak! We would love to host y’all again anytime!

Family Fun
The house was clean and the hosts were thoughtful. Enjoyed watching and feeding the farm animals. Great location, plenty to do and sights to see. Great spot for quality family time.

Incredible experience
Hosts are amazing and gave my kids such an amazing experience with the animals. Fresh veggies from the garden and farm fresh eggs were such a neat surprise!! You need to experience this place. I wish we had stayed longer!!
