"The 1884 hotel is well situated in the village, includes a secure car park at rear. However, lacks so much to comply with basic of modern requirements, there is no elevator and my wife needs walker and sticks! Rooms are accessed up a dated staircase, additionally access from hotels carpark is down steep stair, no handrail. Indoor Dining and bar are shut down for season no staff but apparently coming soon? Our room "Adobe Suite" is just barely acceptable, no hanging closet but plenty of drawer capacity. Access to the spacious shower, toilet and sink area is by a modern 'barn' door, noisy at night. Shower has very poor water pressure and lacks privacy curtain, has no handrail, dangerous. Modern sink with strong water pressure. Cold air circulates throughout the night despite both A/C units being OFF. There is a modern coffee maker; however, had to ask for replenishments milk, coffee heat proof paper cups etc. The dated steep staircase to the room floor is secured at 8pm by flexible steel fence? access after 8pm is by exterior staircase and door from the shutdown exterior dining Patio. There appears to be no housekeeping service, such as turn down, towel change and coffee refreshing, paper cups etc. Overall a poor experience and over priced!"

"Finn and Alexandria are wonderful. Before we arrived they were taking care of us. They let us know what we needed to do to park, how to get in if we arrived late. They always had a pleasant greeting and they took care of everything we wanted and needed. It was like visiting an old friend with a guest house that they allowed you to stay in. Great experience. Thank you for a wonderful place to call home while we visited the wonders of Yosemite."

"Physically the property was pretty just like the on line pics. The rooms lacked storage and for the high price no water or tv was provided. The wait staff was slow and lacked training. As an example, was told the restaurant didn’t offer a latte, but I was free to go Nextdoor to their shop, purchase one and bring it back to the restaurant. That makes no sense as a trained professional would have run over, got the drink and added the cost to your bill. The staff was friendly, but lacked the skills to be as attentive as you’d expect at this price point. Very laid back and seemed geared towards a much younger crowd. A disappointment as we expected better service. At check in, requested the room to be cleaned daily,but it was only cleaned once out of 4 nights stayed. 5 star pricing without the service component will not bode well over time. We wouldn’t recommend for the price."

"Great stay for our Yosemite adventure! (30 min to the western gate, 60 to the “Yosemite Valley Welcome Center.”) Very responsive hosts for addressing the inevitable glitch - all handled seamlessly. Beautiful, open layout between very usable & well supplied kitchen and the living room. Basement game room / kids bunk room was a nice extra."

"Overall I gave this 5 stars because it's worth it. I did have two small complaints. First the upstairs bed. It was not comfortable. We went and purchased a mattress topper and left it on site in hopes that the next guest won't have to have as bad a nights sleep as we did. Second and slightly more annoying was that the ac was locked to a minimum of 73 degrees in the main house. The owner did provide additional cooling upstairs and that worked great when sleeping. And to be fair 73 with the fan blowing wasn't unbearable. The main issue is that it would reset itself every 4 or 6 hours to 80 degrees. That's fine if you're gone however we stayed in a day with allergies and it took a bit to understand what was happening. I never reached out to the owner about this as I understood why he had it set up that way once we discovered ot. Overall it was a wonderful place. Quiet and relaxing. Not getting to try the telescope being my only regret."

Recharge Retreat and Spa Near Yosemite

"My husband and I stayed here to enjoy Yosemite for a couple days. The beds were very comfortable and my husband was so thankful for the hot tub that looked out into the pine trees. The kitchen was well stocked except the coffee mugs were very small. The only problem I had was that I could not get the bathtub plug to stay and they need new towels. We ate at the pine mountain grill and the lazy bear. I would not recommend the lazy bear. The directions were perfect to the house and getting in was a breeze. Thank you Benjamin for being so quick to respond with my questions."
