We have been visiting Maui Christmas wk for 6 yrs now. 1st as a family of 4 and now 5.This was by far the best experience we have had. Using HomeAway website was easy,Maui Resort Rentals was very quick to confirm and respond to my questions.
The property: 1st yr we have stayed in a condo vs a trad'l resort. We normally stay at the Hyatt on Kaanapali beach but $ is outrageous.I booked this condo in July and hoped we would get a good room when we checked in.We reserved a Deluxe Oceanview 2 BR and Maui RR did not disappoint. Bldg #3 floor 4 & amazing views (a couple tall palm trees but who cares.) This condo was BIG. Twice the size of other hotels and I SAVED money. The room was spotless, I felt like we were the first ones ever to use the kitchen is was so clean. We used everything: frig, DW, W&D, vacuum, coffee maker, blender, iron, toaster - everything. And that was just on our side of the condo. The kids had their own coffee maker, washer & dryer, etc.I recom'd bringing Tide pods from home and grab a couple extra coffee packets from hskp. Mid-week linen service was included.
Next yr we are not valet parking as underground our bldg was easier than having to hike all the way to the lobby. Rental chairs and toys are $$ onsite, we used toys that another condo had left behind b4 housekeeping threw them away. BYO pool football ($28) - deflate for travel and they will inflate at the towel station. Buying chairs on Maui is 3x as $ as the mainland but the same $ as renting them for one day at Westin. Everyone was polite incl other vacationers, made new friends and kids had plenty to do. The toddler pool was amazing, separate from everything else so no fighting for chairs. Great playground and has excellent shade!
Restaurants and a store onsite.
The resort never felt crowded even though it was Christmas and completely booked. The beach the same.By far superior to the elbow to elbow of the main strip. They have a free shuttle that will drive you practically anywhere! Just pay attention to the times and route. If you aren't going to the Big Beach you barely need a rental car. Almost forgot the best part- Literally across the street from the Sugar Cane Christmas train. My 3yo LOVED it and the choo choo every night. Buy tickets before your trip.
Aloha!
FYI, Safeway is 2x size it used to be and fully stocked.
