This was easily the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and I would strongly advise against booking here.
My flight was cancelled because of problems with UK air traffic control, so I arrived one day late. When I reached the hotel, reception told me they had cancelled my booking and resold my double room with a window. Neither the hotel nor Hotels.com had contacted me, and the booking was still showing as valid on Hotels.com.
The hotel refused to refund me and said my only option was to book again. They therefore charged me another 6,138 SEK (£476) for two nights in an inferior single room without a window.
Hotels.com also refused to refund the original booking, saying they were “unable to reach the hotel by phone”.
The next morning, reception acknowledged that charging me twice for an inferior room was unacceptable. They agreed to refund the second booking and move me into the room type I had originally booked for my final night. However, when I returned later, reception claimed to know nothing about this agreement, and I remained in the inferior room.
In summary, the hotel cancelled and resold my room without warning, refused a refund, charged me again for a worse room, and then failed to honour the solution its own staff had agreed.
