We do our best to advertise that we are a heritage property without elevators, but as you say we are always happy to move someone into a ground level room if one is available. It's important to fully read the title and description of the room type you're booking, so that there are no surprises when you check in. Hi Ahmed, While we appreciate that not everyone has a credit card, this policy is standard practice in Nova Scotia and beyond. Everyone who has a guest room, pre-paid or otherwise, needs to provide either a credit card for us to place a hold on, or a cash/debit deposit. This is for liability reasons - if a guest were to smoke in, or otherwise damage their room, without a credit card or deposit we would have no way to recoup the cost associated with that. While this doesn't happen often, it -does- happen, which is why it's a standard policy for most Canadian hotels. We regret to hear that you found this policy upsetting, but if you stay elsewhere in Nova Scotia you can expect to run into this again.

Hi Beth, We appreciate you taking the time to review your stay. We encourage any who stays in any hotel to look into the property they are booking before making a reservation on a third party website like this one. Additionally, you are welcome to call hotels directly if you have specific needs - ex : a ground level room. We are a historic boutique hotel comprised of three heritage properties, and do not have elevators. We are very clear in our property description about this. Each room is appointed with a Keurig machine, including coffee pods, which we would have been happy to replenish for you upon your request. Fresh ground coffee is brewed each morning in our lobby. We do have an ice machine, but this is a service our front desk takes care of, as it's in a private service area. Our staff is always happy to get ice, and even deliver it to your room if requested. We apologize that your room refresh was missed. Wishing you safe travels in the future -
