Insider tips; wear decent footwear (I wore flip flops) beware of slippery rocks from frequent rain and leave ample time to get back (I had to race down slippery rocks in the gathering darkness in said flip flops).

We hit the ground running on our first day and headed out for a 4 mile hike on the Kalalau Trail. This was our halfway point... I'd say it was worth it! Get up and start on the trail at 8:30am when it opens. It was packed by the time we finished at 11! @lens4change
