The house was clean and well stocked. Ben and Lela were responsive and accommodating. A few things I feel were described somewhat “gray”, however.
A) The lake is 2x farther away from back of the house then the picture of the backyard shows.
B) The boat ramp listed as "at the entrance of the neighborhood" is over a mile away. Eel grass is taking over the lake. If you launch at that ramp, your trailer will be covered in it. And you'll boat in a lake full of it. Not the owners fault, but it should be mentioned.
C) The house is located on a very shallow part of the lake far away from 10-15ft or more depth. I have put our boat in slips/lifts with 4ft depth. This would have worked, but getting to the main part of the lake isn't possible because of surrounding depths. Because of this we couldn't use the boathouse, which is the main attraction of the listing and the reason we booked.
In Ben’s defense he sent a message prior regarding lake depth. However, I feel in an effort to retain my rental, his message was worded carefully. It wasn't clear that our only option to enjoy the lake was to trailer our boat 15-20 mins away. As such, I was disappointed upon arriving and felt misled.
The listing isn't blatantly dishonest, it’s just skewed too much on the positive. It shouldn't be necessary for the renter to read between the lines or deep into prior reviews. Accurate, clear, honest descriptions should be used to avoid disappointments.
