Newish building with a residence and a hotel side that shares a common area. Location in central Oakland but not lots of restaurants in the neighborhood.

Very clean. Quiet. Staff was friendly and responsive when we had a problem with television reception. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choices of hot food and cold cereals and breads/bagels/english muffins. Ample free parking. Very convenient to Berkeley restaurants and shopping and to the freeways. Just a mile away is the Marina with walking trails next to the Bay in the park. Beautiful. Only 1/2 hour into SF across the Bay Bridge.

Place is a bit outdated and the breakfast is pretty basic. Great for larger families because of the larger rooms, but I would choose Hyatt place across street next time.
