If you feel like you need a break and don't want to worry that the home doesn't have what you need, or that your host won't care if it doesn't, then The Hideaway is for you. We take great pride in thinking of what you might need before you do and making sure what is there for you is 5-star quality. Our hot tub is well maintained, and our linens are hotel quality. If you have questions about staying, just send us a note, and we'll do our best to answer your questions and concerns. We hope you choose to spend your time at The Hideaway at Mason Lake, a peaceful retreat where you can unwind, recharge, and simply be.
The open floor plan makes connecting with loved ones effortless, whether you're savoring morning coffee or settling in for a cozy movie night. When it's time to rest, bedrooms on opposite sides of the home ensure everyone enjoys a quiet and restful night.
***2 Bedrooms***
Drift off to sleep on the Brooklyn Bedding King mattress in the back bedroom, designed to cradle you in marshmallow-like softness. Prefer a firmer sleep? The Tuft and Needle Queen mattress in the front bedroom offers gentle support for a restful slumber. The front bedroom's Murphy bed, with its plush Siena Memory Foam Mattress, can be made ready for you upon request.
There is a 3rd Bedroom that used to be a walk-in closet and now has a firm twin mattress.
***2 Bathrooms***
The main bathroom invites you to relax with a deep soaking tub and shower combo. In the back bedroom's ensuite, a spacious two-headed shower offers a spa-like experience. Both Bathrooms feature handmade organic products from YB Urban's Boutique Aroma Bar. In addition to the standard shampoo and conditioner, we provide shower scrubs and steamers for our guests. We also provide spa robes and slippers.
***Kitchen***
Guests rave about our thoughtfully stocked chef's kitchen. With an expansive island for gathering, a Samsung range with a 5-element cooktop, and all the cookware you could need, preparing delicious meals will feel effortless.
Awake, refreshed, and savor your morning coffee from the coffee maker, Nespresso, or French press—a coffee grinder is also provided should you bring your own beans. A complimentary breakfast featuring English muffins, nut butters and jams, eggs, ground medium-roast coffee, and juice will be provided for you.
For an added touch of indulgence, inquire about curated treats like a charcuterie board, dessert tray, or a fully stocked fridge.
***Indoor Living***
On cozy PNW days, curl up on our inviting Cuddler with a good book or unwind with a movie marathon. Enjoy streaming on Netflix, Paramount+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or HBOMax.
For lively fun, the garage game room offers a JOOLA ping pong table, two Samsung TVs for simultaneous viewing, and a dartboard. Cards, puzzles, and board games are also ready for your enjoyment in the hall closet.
***Outdoor Living***
Dine alfresco at the spacious outdoor dining table on the upper deck or the charming bistro table below.
Let the fresh air surround you as you soak in the well-maintained hot tub or detox in the 6-person barrel sauna. Afterward, refresh with a rinse under the outdoor shower (available May through October).
Our Activities Lawn offers space for yoga, Pilates, or fitness routines, as well as outdoor games for playtime with your pup or young children.
End your evening fireside gathered around the wood fire pit overlooking the serene ravine or cozied up to one of our two gas fire tables.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to our home and the surrounding acreage. The Hideaway is located at the end of the driveway and backs up to Green Diamond Resource Company Land (look it up). We have access to this land through 3 short trails at the back of the property. If you're curious about these trails and where they go, Google Maps and AllTrails are both good apps for navigating.
There is plenty of parking. You can charge your electric vehicle with our RV hook-up; just remember to bring your Portable Level 2 Charger. The outlet and an extension cord are located on the side of the house by the artificial turf.
The Neighborhood:
Mason Lake is a beautiful lake to explore. With no quiet times, you can have all the fun of being on the lake on your boat, or our kayaks and SUP board, and then come back to a quiet retreat in the woods. Only 20 minutes from the Alderbrook resort, you can enjoy dining, golfing, hiking, the spa, and year-round phenomenal views of the Olympic Mountains. Also, just about a 20-minute drive from Belfair and Shelton if you want to go for pizza or enjoy some shopping.
Twahno State Park is about 15 minutes drive and has public access boat launches into the Hood Canal, a beach, and more hiking
Belfair is about a 20-minute drive and has two grocery stores, many coffee huts and gas stations, fast-food, bars, and the North Mason Chamber of Commerce
Shelton is about a 25-minute drive and has a Walmart, fast food, gas stations, bars, antique stores, and the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce.
Hoodsport is about a 35-minute drive and has a couple of eateries and wineries, a distillery, and water access to the Hood Canal. If you drive another 30 minutes to the Olympic National Park Staircase Ranger station, there are many beautiful trails to explore.
You can find more information in Claire's Guidebook for The Hideaway.
