"Beautiful and comfortable home. The listing was a little incomplete so it was unclear exactly what we were getting but pleasantly surprised. One very confusing experience is they never mentioned an actual couple lives on-site and are the hosts. They came by when we got there and were very kind and accommodating. It just would have been helpful to know they would be there. The listing said it was entirely self check-in. "

"I am obsessed with trains. I didn't pick a train side room because I knew the river was what I wanted more on this trip. but I wish I could've done both at the same time! The staff was courteous and knowledgable. I had to leave too early for breakfast and they offered and it was packed it for me. there is a kettle in the room! this is gold! and they were so good with when I really should leave for the airport and getting the taxi."

"Hotel was beautiful, pool was stunning, loungers very comfortable, gym and spa were brilliant and the majority of staff were helpful. The cleaning staff were incredible and our room was spotless. The restaurant food wasn’t great and the staff weren’t hugely helpful or proactive. For example there is a sushi menu but this isn’t handed out, you have to ask for it. We were served wine on one evening which was the end of the bottle and not a full serve and we had to ask and then remjnd the waiter to open a new bottle to fill the glass. The pool menu is very limited (and doesn’t include sushi despite it being a very small distance from the kitchen). We stayed in a loft suite and there were a number of sharp cracked tiles around the bath. There is a shuttle to one beach but it finishes at 4.30 (there are no Ubers and getting a taxi is almost impossible) so it would be good if they could expand the shuttle service to the other beach clubs / restaurants (e.g comporta cafe / jncquoi) and run the shuttle for longer."

"Lovely hotel in a great position in Alfama, can get to most places on foot if you can handle the hills/steps. Staff were really friendly and helpful particularly Carol on breakfast duty and Cape and Sara on front desk. Gym and spa area are a bit limited but with all of the walking the gym wasn’t really necessary. Breakfast was really good with a range of options and choice of a variety of egg-based dishes also available. A revelation for me was the availability of chilled port! I’ve only ever drank port at room temperature. Finally a tour of the museum is a must, absolutely fascinating."
