An Oasis in County Waterford

Spacious and beautiful. Everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. We were able to make a number of day trips from the manor as it is pretty central in southern Ireland, in County Waterford, but quite close to County Cork. You won't want to leave!!

Ireland Country Escape

Our family felt very much at home at this property. From the welcome breakfast (including fresh bread, meats, fruits and eggs) to the very comfortable beds. Our host Gerard, sent us a list of local attractions in the area which helped us explore the beautiful country of Ireland. The accommodations fit our family perfectly and we especially enjoyed the fireplace in the red barn. Our granddaughter loved the play area and running on the spacious lawn. I would highly recommend this property for a family vacation.

Peaceful Country Retreat

Beautiful country manor home, set on acres of fam land. We woke to the sights and sounds of the horses grazing in their fields each morning . The grounds are amazing. The home itself is spacious and filled with lovely antiques. The kitchen is AMAZING!!!! Perfect place to stay while spending a month touring the country. So convenient to get to Dublin, Cork, Galway, Ring of Kerry. We felt as though we were in our own castle. I would highly recommend!!

This place was superb!

First off, Gerard went way above and beyond in dealing with us. There was a large group (11) of us and 4 of us were doing the Ironman. We had a ton of questions before we even arrived, and Gerard was always very quick and friendly with his replies. The house was perfect for us and everyone was very happy with our find. I would love to stay here again sometime when I have more time (and no Ironman to worry about). Thank you again!

Grande estate with a homey, cozy feel

We absolutely loved our stay at Glenbeg House. It had all the feels of an Irish grande estate and yet was so cozy and homey for our family of 15 (3 generations). Gerard was a wonderful host providing for all our needs and many thoughtful touches. He was readily available via text and beyond helpful when we encountered a dental emergency! The house is well stocked and we were able to enjoy cooking many meals in the kitchen, homemade pizza in the outdoor oven and steak from the local butcher on the grill. Lismore is a delightful community and Glenbeg is a perfect location for day trips anywhere. Though with all the wonderful views and amenities at Glenbeg House you wouldn’t need to venture far. We were all sad to leave.

Absolutely fantastic property and amenities for a large group that is supported by a wonderful host.

I have taken numerous trips abroad with larger groups of four or more families - with some truly wonderful experiences doing so over the years - and I can tell you that Glenbeg House is at the top of our growing list of excellent accommodations. This manor is beautiful and more than properly appointed, allowing us to enjoy a week-long stay in a place that absolutely felt like home to all of us. Our group of 13 had plenty of room across the 6 spacious bedrooms, and the common areas (the den, the dining room and especially the kitchen) allowed for great communal gathering. And the lands surrounding Glenbeg were equally spectacular, with horses and cattle populating the fields nearby. We also enjoyed the walk down to Blackwater River, especially at dusk when the fish were busy topwater feeding. It was breathtaking. As for the location of Glenbeg, I can't imagine a more strategic location for accessing so many of the South-Ireland highlights and attractions. We made day trips to Waterford and the Copper Coast, Cahir and Cashel, Blarney and Limerick, Kinsale and Cork, and Youghal and Cobh. We also enjoyed time in nearby Lismore, which is just large enough to provide the necessities any traveling group needs. It is a beautiful region to explore! Lastly, I was very impressed with how personable and welcoming Gerard was in communicating with me before and during our trip. He made himself readily available and proactively checked-in on us during our time at Glenbeg. I hope everyone that stays at their home does so with great respect and consideration for the fine folks that actually do call this place their home. It was an honor to stay here and I would readily give Glenbeg more than 5 stars if it were an option.

It was literally magical! We were all entranced from the moment we arrived:

The property was perfect for a family gathering of 17, 7 of whom were 10years old and younger. The exterior of the house is breathtaking, with many surprises, including a courtyard formed by old stone buildings. There was a terrace out front with a picnic table and fire pit, and another patio and picnic table out back. For the children, there was a play yard including a treehouse and swings, and a trampoline. Someone was there to meet us and show us about this extraordinary historical property, with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, fields and the river. Inside, in the huge old country kitchen, we were welcomed by several breakfast treats - bread, a coffee ring, sausage biscuits, and a fruit compote, as well as eggs, bacon and sausage in the refrigerator, so we wouldn’t have to shop for anything on the night of our arrival. There was ample bedroom space for all, as well as bathrooms to accommodate our large group. The living room and dining room had firewood and starter ready in the grates, and there was a bonus children’s play room. Although our WiFi was sometimes spotty, the owner, Gerard, went to great lengths to hook us up. We had a celebratory meal planned.Gerard put us in touch with a caterer well in advance of our trip, and the meal was spectacular. The house is beautifully, but practically furnished, so we weren’t tiptoeing around. We enjoyed meals both indoors and outdoors and were blessed with warm and mostly sunny weather. I had several concerns pulling this family vacation together, and Gerard was more than helpful in providing information about the property, as well as other activities and sites we might like, such as the Lismore Castle Easter Egg Hunt, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The pictures of the property on line cannot possibly do justice to how special it is. This was truly the vacation of a lifetime, and we all felt so fortunate to have experienced it.

A gracious home for family time

My US family traveled to the Ballyduff area for our every 5 year reunion. Glenbeg served as a beautiful, comfortable and gracious 'home away from home' for us. We made use of the expresso machine every morning and the lovely dining room with fireplace for dinner on the nights we were here. Magical moments occurred around that table. Gerald referred us to the recently opened Farmgate Lismore restaurant and we could not be more pleased this recommendation. Food excellent (all locally sourced) and the space was exquisitely designed. When we had a question about something related to the house, Billy was available and attentive. Our time spent at Glenbeg was truly wonderful. While we were there, the hay in the field in front of the house was being collected and baled which proved to be a very interesting process to observe. i speak on behalf of my other family members when we collectively thank Gerald for this warm and wonderful and unforgettable Glenbeg experience.

An amazing stay

This was our second year in a row renting this property and again it was absolutely flawless. The location and grounds are beautiful and well worth walking around. The house itself is fantastic, the photos do not do it justice. It's well equipped and had everything we needed to cook for a large group. I would 100% recommend renting this property and I hope to be back myself. Thanks!

Beautiful historic house

We really enjoyed our stay in this historic property nestled in a lovely green valley by the river. Gerard is an excellent host and provided incredibly helpful guides for the area and the house and property. All of the recommendations we tried were spot on. He was also extremely responsive to any questions or issues we had during our stay. The kids loved playing on the grounds. Our group of 14 had more than enough space to stay comfortably. Would highly recommend!

It was like a step back in time.

Seeing the property upon arrival was like a step back in time. As we entered I felt as if we were visiting family or coming home after being away for a time. Everything was available to make out stay convenient & comfortable. It was extremely quiet & restful. A lovely homemade breakfast awaited us on our first morning. The grounds were expansive & beautiful. We loved seeing the horses in pastures. The location was perfect for day trips to visit the surrounding areas. Our host, Gerard , was an encyclopedia of helpful information in the planning of our trip & everything he suggested was flawless. Although the home was modern in its adaption to comfort the atmosphere of its history was very apparent. I would recommend Glenbeg to anyone traveling with family & or friends. You will not be disappointed.

Great place for families to gather!

Although we had a short stay at the manor, we enjoyed it very much at this point in our family vacation. We were a group of 16 who all attended a family wedding and were already on the road for about a week. All the families wanted to really relax and this was the perfect place for peace and quiet. The smaller kids enjoyed the trampoline and seeing all the horses. The older kids enjoyed stories around the fire pit. Wish we could of stayed longer to take advantage of kayaking and fishing.... next time!

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!

This is an absolutely stunning home! It's perfect for a family reunion and close to some beautiful sights. However, be warned, because the property is so welcoming and warm that you may decide never to go out and instead spend your days lounging by the open fires or strolling t through the grounds of the house. Three are 6 bedrooms, all good sized and private. The kitchen is well equipped and has the best fireplace in the house. It's easy to get to the house from Cork airport, it took us less than an hour. Once we got there we found that the host had left us with a fridge fully staffed for breakfast for the next morning and with treats for the children - things just got better and better from that point on. We had asked the host to help us organise an itinerary and we found his suggestions excellent. A chef and staff are available for dinner, all organised again by the host. All worked perfectly and we had a memorable family holiday. We'll definitely be back.

A New Year to Remember!

My family (including extended family, made up of 2 couples in their 40's, 2 your couples in their early 20's, 2 teenagers and 2 kids - 12 in the group) stayed at this property in order to bring in the new year of 2018 together. - It was perfect!... The Manor house is everything you would expect and more!... The property was clean and had a wonderful peacefulness about it (which can be unusual for a property of such history and age). The owners were excellent in giving us all the necessary details and went above and beyond in assisting us in our arrangements, including providing/arranging a chef and waiter service for the three days (which were absolutely excellent and we would highly recommend!). The house was perfect for our family gathering and we never actually left the house/grounds over the 3 days – there was enough (more than enough) to entertain all the ages (from 5 years of age to 40+ !!) within the house and perfect settings for leisurely walks around the grounds. We would highly recommend this property for anyone wishing for something a little different in Ireland and to experience the life (if just for a few days) of the gentry of previous ages! - We would recommend this property and would hope to return to it some day!

An Unreal Estate!

Just an unbelievable stay. Our family of seven stayed here five nights during our two weeks in Ireland. While we stayed in castles along the way, this property was by far and away our favorite. The owners are beyond accommodating with suggestions. Each one of the suggestions made our trip more memorable. The property itself is breathtaking. Our girls watched the horses across the fence for hours and played endlessly on the trampoline. The house is set up perfectly for large families like ours. We headed into Lismore a few times for drinks and meals but actually preferred to cook at the home and eat in the spacious dining room. There is a butcher in town with exceptional meats. We highly recommend it. We closed our stay with service at the abbey down the road (another one of Gerard's brilliant suggestions). If you have time, it's worth the visit. We cannot say enough about the memories we were able to make at this estate. Everything is top of the line. We cannot wait to get back.

Fantastic family reunion

Very comfortable beautifully decorated home. We loved the great modern showers and the fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the house so much we cancelled our dinner booking and stayed home instead. It was perfect for our family get together. No arguments over rooms as they were all so beautiful. Thanks Gerard for all your help in arranging a memorable family weekend

Perfect place to stay with large families!

Our group of 14 stayed at the Glenbeg house for a family reunion and vacation. First off, working with Gerard coordinating everything was so easy and Gerard was so helpful and knowledgable about all activities and surrounding areas of Ireland. Gerard went above and beyond in helping us with our travels to get the Glenbeg home. Billy the home caretaker went out of his way to make us feel at home and comfortable. They left us some food to help us get settled as well. The home was so comfortable for us to stay in with such a large group. The property was exceptional as well, seeing the beautiful herd of cows, sheep and horses. We were able to have outdoor games played by the children and cook up wonderful meals in the home. The town, Lismore has an amazing castle to visit the grounds and the town of Fermoy is close for grocery's. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home! We will come back the next time we are in town.

Fabulous setting, fabulous stay

We stayed here with our extended family over the Easter weekend. With three generations of family, aged 2 to 70 something, plus dogs, it was the perfect location. The house was amazing, the grounds fabulous and the welcome from Gerard and family second to none. It makes such a difference to stay in somewhere that is a family home, rather than just a holiday let, especially as Gerard is obviously just as foodie as we all are. Clean, warm, grand but friendly, what else would you need?

Lovely period house, ideal for big groups

Me and my friends (11 of us) spent 4 days in Glenbeg and celebrated NYE. This is a lovely period house with a lot of original features. It is a fully equipped family home hence our stay was very comfortable. Gerard was exceptionally helpful to give us full information regarding the property and the surroundings in advance. We took some of his advises and tried to towns and restaurants recommended. They were spot on. The property is highly recommended for big groups and families.

This home was spectacular! The interior and exterior are breathtaking. From the size of the rooms, fireplaces and pastures, my family was comfortable, impressed and happy. The owner was easy to deal with, kind enough to leave us treats and help us organize transportation. Access to great places like Blarney, Cobh, and other counties was great. Staying here made our trip one of the best trips of our lives.
