We really liked the location. It's close - walking distance - to grocery stores. It was close to the motorway, easy to get into Glasgow and out. Parking was very spacious; we're used to very restricted parking and very narrow streets, so this location at the end of the street was nice.
The property needed better cleaning. There was a box of toys in the sunroom that had a lot of dirt and other trash in it, clearly hadn't been looked at by the landlord. Since we didn't have any little kids with us, this wasn't an issue.
About half the dishes and cutlery weren't very clean, like the last tenant didn't wash them properly, so we gave up and re-washed everything.
The fridge also seemed to be unable to keep things at a proper temperature; we had milk go bad in just a few days.
We really appreciated the washer in the unit.
Maintaining a comfortable temperature was difficult. We're still not used to radiators, so that's mostly on us. Still, it would have been nice to have better instructions for Americans.
Communication was a little odd ... the landlord contacted me on WhatsApp while I was still in the airport to ask me to send a damage deposit through paypal. I was a little wary of this, but without the deposit, I couldn't get the keys. After we checked out, the deposit was returned, but we took a hit on the conversion rates back to US dollars. I would have rather had the damage deposit done through the VRBO platform, but whatever.
Overall, the property was nice given its location, the number of bedrooms, and such. There were just some weird things about it. Our stay as pleasant enough, though, and nothing was so bad we felt like we needed to raise it to the landlord immediately.
