I wanted to share some feedback regarding a recent stay at the Maravilla Condos. While the trip itself had many enjoyable aspects, there were a few accessibility challenges that I felt were important to communicate for future consideration. When we arrived, on Friday evening elevators 2 and 3 were functioning. The following morning the only elevator that was working was elevator 3. The elevator could be called from floors 1 – 3. The elevator, however, could not be called from the parking garage. This issue persisted for the remainder of our visit. As someone with mobility limitations, this became especially difficult—particularly in the evenings. After 9PM, when the on-site staff was no longer available, I was unable to return to the unit unless I coordinated ahead of time with others to help navigate the broken system. This added a great deal of stress to what was intended to be a relaxing vacation with family and friends, many of whom had also traveled from out of town. Vacations are supposed to offer freedom—a chance to explore, to reconnect, and to enjoy a bit of independence. Instead, I found myself calculating every outing around whether I’d be able to get back to my room. At times, I felt less like a guest and more like someone in need of constant assistance, which was disheartening and honestly, a bit isolating.
