Chickadee A-Frame on Private Road

Get cozy at Chickadee, an upscale A-Frame retreat completed in January 2025. With 3 bedrooms (1 King, 2 Queens), and 2 modern bathrooms, Chickadee accommodates 6 people. Tons of natural light and the Maine woods (located on a private road), allow you and your friends/family to escape and enjoy easy access to Portland (21 miles); shopping downtown Freeport (2.7 miles); and Bowdoin College (6 miles). Recreational activities abound: local hikes (Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park, Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment, Pettengill Farm, Freeport Conservation Trust trails); kayaking (L.L. Bean Outdoor Recreation Center, Wolfe’s Neck Center); snowshoeing and Nordic skiing (Pineland Farms); scenic biking; and visiting Popham Beach. After you’ve worn yourselves out, come home and relax on the stone patio or by the firepit and/or snuggled up by the woodstove. Kitchen is well equipped, including induction

Absolutely perfect stay! The place was spotless and had everything we could have asked for. Close to downtown Freeport, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. The perfect mix of seclusion and safety — highly recommend!

Get Away Weekend

The property was one of the best I have rented. It was quiet and very private. Close to shopping and many hiking trails. The house is beautiful and had all we needed . The patio and smokeless fire pit were great for sitting out and making s’mores. There was space for the littles to run outside where we could see them . It was a great weekend had by all of us.

We came up to Freeport to shop. We felt right at home. The house was easy to find and we were visited by a couple of Deer. We enjoyed the fire pit the second night, sitting outside on a beautiful evening. Would recommend a few things: hooks and towel racks in the bathroom on the main floor, bureaus in the bedrooms for clothes, not just closets. Night stand perhaps attached to the wall due to lack of space, in main floor bedroom. Better corkscrew. Long forks for s’mores. Next time I will know what to bring. All in all it was a lovely trip, totally enjoyable.
