My review is on the Sister property Sugar Beach as we received a free upgrade to stay there which was way better. The Sugar Beach property was very well maintained beautiful and updated we really enjoyed our stay, lots of loungers by the adult pool and lots of space on the beach and great rattan covered beds on the beach and nature built umbrellas. The Buffet had a lot to offer and staff tried there best but it was so busy they had issues with one of there coffee water machines and there was not enough coffee/tea cups every morning. We enjoyed two dinners at restuarants on site and they were great. (Buddha Bar and Citronella)

We are a family of 4. We normally stay in another 4* hotel but this time decided to try La Pirogue. To our surprise the service was amazing. The staffs from check-in to check-out made our stay memorable. A few names to mention, Feroz who really looked after us, also Lobin always making sure we were happy. Kristel at the bar in the evening took great care of us. Also at the miniclub Aarti took great care of our children. Pascal Toussaint was excellent and gave great customer service with care. Overall we were well satisfied with the service received and will definitely come back. Thank you once again to the staffs who made us feel very welcomed.

My stay at La Pirogue overall was excellent. The grounds & decorations for Christmas were beautifully done, & the uptake of the grounds are apparent. The hotel had many activities for families & health activities which were nice to see. I decided to do a work out class at 8am but the instructor never showed. Not a huge deal, I went to the beach instead. The rooms are very spacious & beautifully decorated- in a beachy feel. Bathroom is a nice size. The shower pressure was very nice. The air conditioner unit in the room was high up on the ceiling. It was at 18C (64F) & didnt seem to do much. It should have been freezing in the room but was not. It may have just been that room (88) but unsure. It automatically switched off when you left the room, which was a nice eco friendly option. The bed wasnt the worst, but wasnt the best either. A nice touch was on Xmas Eve they left gifts in the guest rooms, a stocking full of candy and some other treats. I was half board (meaning it included breakfast and dinner but I paid for all beverages- soda, water, alcohol) The buffet style dinner reminded me of a cruise ship, lots of options, not the best quality but I managed to find something. Again, the spread for Xmas Eve was stunning. The manager of the property Vyas is very caring & attentive to the needs and wants to see the clientele happy, which is very refreshing and appreciated. The beach is gorgeous. Some staff friendly, some not. Mostly they were. I would go again without hesitation

Die Hotelanlage sowie der Strand sind sauber und gepflegt – das verdient definitiv ein Lob. Auch der Sommelier war herausragend: freundlich, kompetent und mit viel Leidenschaft präsentierte er jeden Abend hervorragende Weine. Leider geht dieses Qualitätsmerkmal im Gesamteindruck des Hotels unter, da viele Gäste das All-Inclusive-Angebot nutzen und damit kaum Wert auf diesen Service legen. Allerdings gibt es zahlreiche Schwachstellen, die den Gesamteindruck stark trüben: Servicepersonal im Restaurant: Hier besteht dringender Schulungsbedarf. Das Personal wirkte oft unstrukturiert, teilnahmslos und zum Teil unfreundlich. Teller wurden abgeräumt, obwohl wir noch beim Essen waren. Einige Mitarbeiter waren ständig mit dem Handy beschäftigt und haben die Gäste dabei ignoriert. Die allgemeine Atmosphäre war leider eher abschreckend als einladend. Zimmerreinigung: Diese beschränkte sich oft nur auf das Nötigste. In mehreren Ecken war deutlich sichtbarer Schmutz, und einige Spiegel musste man selbst nachreinigen. Der Zustand von Wasserkocher, Badmülleimer, Wecker, Toilettenpapierhalter und Schminkspiegel war bedenklich – diese sollten dringend ausgetauscht werden. Check-In-Prozess: Dieser war schlichtweg inakzeptabel. Wir mussten bei großer Hitze fast drei Stunden auf unser Zimmer warten, ohne dass man sich angemessen um uns gekümmert hat. Es gab weder Getränke noch eine andere Form der Entschädigung oder Aufmerksamkeit – das geht besser.

Abbiamo apprezzato molto il nostro soggiorno. La struttura è ben curata, molto spaziosa e offre ampi spazi. I bungalow generosi e ben arredati, e la spiaggia bianca con le palme ci sono piaciuti particolarmente. Dopo qualche piccolo inconveniente, abbiamo ricevuto dei graditi extra e un upgrade della camera, che abbiamo molto apprezzato. Il personale alla reception è stato cordiale, in particolare Kelly, che si è sempre impegnata affinché il nostro soggiorno fosse piacevole. Il cibo a buffet era gustoso e vario. Anche le attività sportive sono varie e ce n’è per tutti i gusti. Unici piccoli punti negativi: la maggior parte degli sdrai in spiaggia e in piscina viene sempre riservata fin dal mattino con gli asciugamani. Inoltre, i drink al beach bar vengono serviti in modo piuttosto trascurato in bicchieri di carta, il che è deludente per un cocktail al prezzo di circa 15 €. La camera era pulita, ma il secondo passaggio di pulizia serale veniva sempre saltato.

Oasis in poor area of Mauritius. Our taxi driver warned us against going on the beach at night due to a recent horrific incident. The area looks poor, stray dogs, lots of rubbish and rubble. However la pirogue is a bubble of loveliness, landscaped gardens, direct access to glorious beach. Nightly activity programme, food was generally very good with plenty of variety. Most staff very friendly and helpful especially if leaving a tip. Pool very cold. Additional activities offered very good: walk, snorkelling, kayaking. Taxi drivers at hotel very helpful and you can just about get everywhere from the hotel although seems there’s just the one main road so traffic can be bad.

Nous avons été très déçus par cet hôtel qui réunit un grand nombre d’avis positifs auxquels nous nous sommes fiés pour réserver. Le lieu est absolument magnifique et c’est très dommage que les hébergements ne soient pas entretenus à la hauteur de l’endroit. L’accueil du personnel est variable, certains sont adorables et à votre service et d’autres beaucoup moins. Nous avons trouvé que c’était très cher par rapport aux prestations proposées.

We had a great 10 day honeymoon at La Pirogue. They were very accommodating at the beginning and end of holiday giving us a spare room to shower in. The food everg day was incredible. Cocktails lovely. No extra hidden charges. We played crazy golf and used the sports facilities too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon!

Top Hotel - im jeder Beziehung !! Vor allen die quali der Speisen ist hervorragend. Ebenso der Service, sehr gut. Die Lage ist traumhaft, besser geht es kaum. Unter dem Strich ein eher 5 Sterne Hotel, das wir absolut empfehlen können !!

Adjoining garden bungalows were good for us with our two teenage children. A dated resort. Convenient for beach. We spent a lot of time at Sugar Beach which is the sister hotel as they had more to offer. Drinks and food was a strange set up at Sugar Beach with certain areas for certain staff. Padel was very expensive. Spa facial was good but not a great welcome. Staff weren't overly friendly as our previous resort were.

Beautiful hotel, wish we could stay longer

Stayed for 4 nights at end of 3 week stay visiting nearby family. The resort, rooms and restaurants are all very good and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The grounds are extremely well kept and our daughters loved taking part in all the available activities. We stayed in a garden bungalow adjacent rooms on all inclusive package. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping daily was appreciated. The resort is large and spread out so might not be suitable if you dont like walking but this did not bother us. Only minor suggestion we would make is to have organised the Wolmar dining tables better so we didnt have to wait for tables 2 nights. We would happily come and stay again in the future.

I would give a rating of the 4.8 out of 5. There were some hiccups at reservations but the SunLife manager was excellent and stepped in to fix everything. The setting with the palm trees and beach was superb, the breakfast buffet and Mauritian dinner buffet were excellent and the best thing was the warmth, hospitality and thoughtfulness of the staff. The only drawback was the stray dogs on the property.
