Small bedrooms Needs refurbishing Metal cupboards and bed stands that had a lot of rust so not really well maintained But very central and easy to to get to places Close to railway station Walking distance to The Castle and Royal Mile. Lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep Staff very helpful Very cramped reception

Great Nostalgic hotel, beautifully appointed rooms and the location was perfect to visit the city of Edinburgh.

This hotel was very disappointing. The hallway always smells like hot garbage because of a poorly placed garbage shoot. The room itself was okay but felt very old. A large bed turned out to be two smaller mattresses pushed together (uncomfortable). The shower was really bad, only a very weak overhead shower that changed from hot to cold, cracked old tiles, and a very strong smell of sewer coming from the drain. It got so bad that we asked if there is something to be done and they just poured bleach on it (so when we got back it smelled of both sewer and bleach). When we checked out we were waiting to be asked about it or be somehow compensated, as they previously suggested after they couldn’t resolve the issue, but the women didn’t ask a single question about our stay.
