Overall it was a nice place to stay and relax. My kids and I enjoyed the kayak's and my wife and I enjoyed the birds in the morning and peace at night. The only negative is we didn't get to hear the loons in the morning or at night, which I was hoping for.
Every summer for 17 years my family spends a week in Maine by the water. We come to visit my mother and spend time in nature by the water. This property is listed as "lakeside" "lakefront" "beach front" with "beach access." However, there are no photos of the water access from the cabin. I called to confirm with the host if my 77 year old disabled mother would be able to easily access the water, to which she replied "yes" that there is a path with "easy access to water" with "water views from every side of the home." When we arrived we were gravely disappointed by what could be described as a 100 yard bumpy nature hike through the forest to get to a swampy, buggy, muddy marshy part of "the lake." There was NO place to easily put a kayak, no place to easily access swimmable waters, lots of areas where you sink deeply in the muddy, swampy waters, high grasses and brush to trek through (the next day my son had a bullseye tick bite that required treatment). We left as soon as we could secure another property the very next morning, while communicating with the host the entire time. I hoped to resolve this civilly. I offered to pay for the one night that we had to stay as we had no alternative. I thought this was generous given the deception and massive disruption to our short vacation. However, the host stated that the owner is not refunding any of our stay because I didn't cancel through VRBO - which BTW I was unable to do once I had check in. I tried.
