"If you know me, you know I love to explore places that *might* have ghosts, so when the chance to stay at a hotel built in the late 1800's presents itself, I take it. Every time, without question. The Decker may not be haunted, but it is like stepping into the past. The plush red carpet, old wooden details, and Tiffany style lamps accenting the staircase all transport you back to another time. If you ever find yourself in Maquoketa, IA, check out The Decker; it won't disappoint."

"Our room was clean and comfortable. It was a nice location for visiting the Maquoketa Caves. The hot tub was not working while we were there which would have been nice after our hike. Overall, a nice comfortable place to stay."

"We had such a wonderful stay! The home was absolutely beautiful, and the location couldn’t have been better. The views were incredible and made every morning and evening feel so relaxing. Everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described, making it easy to feel right at home.We truly loved every minute of our stay and are already looking forward to coming back. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with an amazing location and unforgettable views!"

"We arrived late at night and it was very dark. Recommend lighting along the lane and perhaps signage to the cabins. Overall the place seemed clean, but we wondered how clean it really was when we saw feces on the outside of one of the toliet bowls. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was very well supplied. Lots of kitchen supplies, extra linens, and towels."
