We just came back from a week stay at this property and overall it was a great rental. The location absolutely can't be beat. Nothing better than waking up to the sunrise over the water and watching all kinds of wildlife from the porch. The owners also provided a lot of fun recreational options - kayaks, bikes, ping pong etc which was nice. There was a fire ban in progress so we couldn't use the fire pit outside but that couldn't be helped. In terms of the house itself things were a little more rustic than I thought they would be. There was a fireplace in the main living area that didn't work and I was under the impression that it had an insert that I assumed would look like a fire but it ended up just a little dinky electric plug in log set that just glowed. Also, the decor felt a bit dated and needs to be freshened up a bit. Towels, sheets, blankets felt old and a little musty. Plus, it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but in a vacation rental you don't want to be staring at family photos on the walls. It made me a bit uncomfortable like I was crashing in a strangers house.
Again, location can't be beat and that's really what we were there for. Orcas is definitely the best of the San Juans in my opinion and we would go back in a heartbeat.
